Let me tell you about this other guy who played QB for the Jets back in the 60's and early 70's who also wore #12....
Did not post much here and this will be my last one. Cutting ties with the team I have rooted for since I was like 8. May come back once Vick is gone, not sure. Go Saints
Like I have already said, every type meat you buy at the supermarket is from abused animals. Unless you're a vegetarian, you need to STFU!
He spent 2 years in federal prison (no early release) and lost over $100 million. What should his penalty been? He has probably done more to stop dog fighting than anyone on the planet over the past 5 years or so. He also made it a point to pay back all of his creditors coming out of bankruptcy even though he was protected by bankruptcy laws. Nobody is perfect but the man paid his debt and turned his life around. Let him live.
I appreciate you POV. I totally appreciate that post. I'm not ashamed to admit that I simply don't forgive and forget. It may be a product of his upraising/environment, but that isn't good enough for me. I'm an atheist, so this need to forgive isn't in me. I simply want/expect/need people to be better because they want to or should be. I totally get people being cool with him. If I'm being impartial, he's most likely better than what we have from a QB perspective. Thanks for not jumping on me with my post. I hope it works out, but I may have to take a year off from the Jets if he's on the roster. It doesn't make me less of a fan. I've been dealing with the Jets crap since I can remember. He is the one dude that hits hits home in a bad way.
Like I said, this signing would ween out all the bullshit fans. I'm loving this. Vick on the Jets, Sanchez gone, fake ass fans leaving with him. Feels like Christmas!!!
Signing Vick was a good move on several fronts. It provides both competition AND insurance in case Geno shits the bed again in his sophomore year. It brings a guy in that knows MM's system and can pass that on to Geno. It kinda makes a commitment to MM that the offense is indeed the focus this year which also gives Idzik cover for not addressing the CB/FS needs of the secondary. It also sets up a very interesting dynamic in case Vick beats out Geno in TC. I see this happening although we will be told that there will be a "competition". The FO (read GM) has so much invested in Geno that unless Geno gets caught banging a underage transsexual with a bag full of meth and child porn on a tablet, he'll be the starting QB of the NYJ's. What is refreshing is that the spotlight has moved from Rex to Idzik. Lets see how this plays out.
I don't like this move because we all know Vick won't be on the roster next season,Id be surprised if he lasted more then 1 year on Jets
If he starts I hope he throws 40 interceptions and 0 TDs. Ivory/Goodson/Powell can rush for 100 combined TDs and make up for it.
A lot of Eagles felt the way you do. Just keep in mind: He could have very easily gone back to Virginia and waited to become a 30 for 30 (he still will be one day but the ending will be much better now). He came out of prison and made the effort to right his wrongs. Most people would have folded under the criticism and public vilification. He owned it. You can't ask more from a person who is in the wrong than that.
I don't like the move for two reasons: 1) This will hamper the progression of Geno because I expect Vick to start 2) I think Vick will be awesome and the best QB we've had since Pennington and even better than Chad... for about 9 games
