Michael Vick is the first non-Jets jersey I owned (when he was on the Falcons). Then the dog thing happened and I burned that jersey. Now he's a Jet. Well at least I know who will be replacing Santonio Holmes in the "NYJ I despise" department.
The way Sanchez was playing in the pre-season last year against starters, we would have made the playoffs easily last year with him. I'm glad we changed to Smith as I think we'll do better long term but still.
I hear you, and I was a Jets fan WAY before my pits, but at this point in my life they rank above the Jets. I know most won't understand, but this is a brutal spot for a lifelong, diehard to be in.
So you're saying we would have made the playoffs with Sanchez at QB based off three preseason games? Alright, we're done here. Moving on...
Look I'm not against this move, after Sanchez was released we had to sign someone and Vick was the other option on the market.
I like the move if it plays out the right way, as in Geno either beats him out or gets to learn something from him on the bench for a while.
Vick has never produced anything less than a statistically average QB season. This is the best backup we've had in years, and finally someone that can push our starter to be better. None of this coddling bullshit from Brunell, Garrard, McElroy, or Simms. Competition, competition, competition.
I think we were around $28 before Sanchez/Vick transactions. I'd imagine we're in the $31-$34 range now.
If this goes bad its going to be a total train wreck knowing the jets that's what will happen. I cant get past the dog thing he did some bad things
I do not care about the dog thing. The man paid his debt to society, its over. I do however, have a problem with signing a 34 year old, injury prone, scrambling quarterback. There is a good chance he will die on the field playing for us. That is all.
Smh @ this still being an issue By all accounts he's more than turned his life around ten fold. Hope he can make the Jets a better team.
I feel your pain, really. But please understand that this is a good move for the team. As to the dogs business.... The issue is personal for you, I get it, but you can't punish a guy forever. Theft, manslaughter, embezzlement, assault all have limited term of punishment. Yes, abusing a weaker being (animal or human) shows the rottenness of the character. Vick paid for his crime and you should be more forgiving and perhaps give him a chance.
I don't think anyone sees him as the future of the Jets - hence the 1yr contract its not a move I wanted us to make for various reasons but it is what it is so hopefully he can have some success here and at the very least push Smith which wasn't there this year.
