Exactly. D-Jax breaks open everything for us... The whole field opens up.. Him being on the field would make Kerley/Decker/Ivory/Powell/Cumberland 10x more productive.
Well if we did sign D jax and MM was looking to put his spread/hyper offense back into play then i wouldn't be surprised if the Chris Johnson linking were true.
Neither. Don't see why we have to go for either. There's a million WRs in the draft. If you want DeSean Jackson, why wouldn't you just draft Brandin Cooks? He's got the same upside. Not saying he's going to be better or worse, but you could draft 10 Brandin Cooks to reach DJax's contract value.
If we get him I'd be happy (which I doubt) if we don't I'll be happy... I'm all for Cooks in the first round !
I am very high on Brandin Cooks but we have no clue how he is going to transition into the NFL... While I do think he is going to be successful, you just don't know. Case in point.. Look at Tavon Austin... We all thought he was going to take the game by storm last year and he did not... D-Jax is a proven entity.. We know what he brings to the table there is no guessing about it..
Not sure if this was already posted, but apparently Vick is very serious about wearing the number "7" and will bring it up in negotiations... this, of course, happens to be Geno's number. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/20..._comes_to_jets_ridiculous.html#incart_m-rpt-1
I think the entire NFL world knows Jackson is better than Britt, but the contracts are huge. With Britt you're offering a tiny contract and no guaranteed playing time. So if he works out, great, if not, who cares. If DJax gets hurt, well you're out almost 13 mil of cap in 2014 and zero production since an injury would greatly effect his style of play. Then you're sitting there in 2015 saying is he going to come back? Is he going to be worth 12 mil? Can we trade him? Should we cut him? Do we have good leverage to extend Wilk?
Original report is from TMZ... I think Vick is way past that stage in his career where he bitches over something so silly as a number.
I agree with this but the salary cap is going up every year... We will have money for a long time... Can't be cheap all the time.. When a guy like this comes around, you take this opportunity.
If I were Geno I'd say take it, he wore 12 in college. He could be any number he wants and Vick will probably pay him for it. As a 2nd round pick I'm sure Geno could use the cash lol. EDIT: Any numbers except 12 or 13 of course.
Perhaps. I'd say no, but if we do give up only a 4th, I won't be picketing the building in protest I guess.
You can't shy away from signing a player fearing he might get injured. By that logic nobody would sign players.
I really like the Desean idea, but I don't think it's a slam dunk. A 3rd rounder to take on that type of salary, in the form of a slight-framed, fearless receiver is pretty steep. This isn't any commentary on DJax the player, because when he's healthy and involved he's an offensive force that can change the defensive gameplan. I just don't think it's blatantly obvious to trade a 3rd for him considering his build/style and massive contract. I think a 4th is much more palatable, considering the value and that we have two of them. A 3rd could definitely end up working out in the long run, but I don't think it's as much of a foregone conclusion as others do.
