if we can land desean jackson without giving up the first, i'll call it an offseason. i would be willing to give up the 2nd and 3rd for this guy, we have the money to keep him
I actually think Tate is a terrific compliment to Megatron. He's going to have 1-1 coverage all game with no safety help because that'll be overthetop for Calvin. He might have a very good year in Detroit.
He could very well have a good year as you say, I still don't think he lives up to that contract. We'll see. Side Note - Golden Tate - Drafted 2010 - 2010 - 21 receptions 227 yds 2011 - 35 receptions 382 yds 2012 - 45 receptions 688 yds 2013 - 64 receptions 898 yds That's not very good. He is getting paid almost as much as Decker and other top WR in the league, it's crazy. He hasn't done anything to deserve a contract like that. I do hope he has a good year though, I don't like for players to fail, I just think this is a perfect example for people to realize that it really is refreshing to have a GM that can see what a player is worth and stick to that cap number no matter what. 35 million for Golden Tate.. Not a chance in hell I would do that.
he sounds like an idzic signing, young, buried on the depth chart by very good starters and hungry for more play time. sounds like ivory with a little less production
Welp, it ain't hard to put two and two together to find out why Idzik is the way he is. And it worked out pretty well for Seattle.
what will it realisticly take to get desean jackson? would the first be enough? or 2nd + 3rd? honestly i'd rather have djax than any other of these young bloods, we are in dire need for him. we can also skip out on drafting a receiver and truly keep decker at a number 2, where he would excel. we can draft a corner in the 1st/2nd, and pick up that tight end from iowa in the 3rd... and we CANNOT let the patriots get him, this guy would totally offset the revis situation, would be great to watch djax destroy revis
Yeah I believe RR can make chicken soup outta chicken shit, but we need a dominant D and should allocate a little more to that position to get over the top imo. We're going to have to do it Seattle style (which is really our brand in 09/10) great D, good run game, win turnover battle. Having a physical secondary is requisite to beat the top offenses today. We have $30m cap space, $40 if taco is gone!
Thing is.. The Seahawks built their roster up primarily through the draft. Free Agency was more of a depth pool up until this past offseason, even then they only made a couple splashes. That secondary was built through the draft and by way of later rounds with the exception of Thomas.
Anyone who can catch a football is an enormous upgrade to most of the WR's we had on this team last year! That's your argument?? And I'm making the whole entire jet fan base look bad, all by myself??? And I suppose you speak for the whole entire Jet fan base, Correct?
anthony spencer would be interesting if we are looking for more olb depth. can get to the qb and would likely come with rob's blessing, so we have some inside info,
Decker calmly said, Denver didn't offer him a contract and when on to try to find the best fit for him. Golden Tate on the other hand, after winning the super bowl, says the team that drafted him offered him a contract that was "laughable". This pretty much highlights why we didn't pursue Golden Tate. I just remember him laughing and waving at an Arizona player while running into the end zone, leading to a unsportsmanlike penalty.
Also.. I don't see this D Jackson thing panning out, don't know why everyone is getting excited. He doesn't strike me as someone in our price range currently, he also doesn't strike me as someone that would be a good fit character wise for this team either. I don't think this will ever be anything other than more expectations that will ultimately turn into more Idzik bashing. YaY!
honestly i dont see anything panning out, getting decker was already surprising enough for me. still djax is that number 1 receiver we can't seem to find, we never draft high enough or go defense. for a 3rd, i think the jets should def take a look, it will make decker the number 2 receiver and will make that signing 10 times more worth it
I know we keep bashing Idzik every time we lose out on a player that someone on this board wants... but tbqh I'm liking his direction in cleaning out the garbage, me me me type guys, and brining in high character class acts... its about time the culture changed around here.
Why the F do people want D Jax??? Haven't we learned anything from signing Holmes? D Jax is just a faster Holmes, he's talented no doubt but has a selfish attitude. Keep him far away from this team please.
Haven't you noticed... btwn everyone on this board everyone is wanted... yet whenever we don't sign everyone, everyone bashes Idzik
