He was not "one" of the worst cb's in football last year. You guys are jaded and are harsher on your own because you see him play the most. There were far worse guys out there. Did Cro take a step back last year? Yes. But he wasn't that bad last year.
He's trying to undercut the market so he's losing and will continue to do so if his numbers dont conform to the market price and say bye bye to all your young talent when they hit free agency.
This and all these people saying he has no clue is based on what exactly? Seems like he did just fine to me closing with Decker didn't he? You guys want it both ways. Everyone hated the way Tanny did things but now you get what you've asked for you hate this just as much. Maybe it turns out he's not a good GM but to bash him for what you hear from the likes of Mehta is ridiculous.
I think this fan base has CBs on the brain, probably because Jets fans have been spoiled the past few seasons. Since when does the success of the team begin and end with CBs???? Having Revis and Cro for multiple seasons (at ridiculous amounts of money) has made Jets fans think that an NFL team has to play with two top CBs. Why???? Whose to say that Idzik doesn't consider CBs to be worth $6-12 million a year? And who is to say he is wrong? Let's look at the CBs the Jets passed up in free agency. Davis was traded by the Dolphins after sucking it up in camp and early in the 2012 season. Revis is now playing for his third team in three years. Ro Cro is playing for his fourth team in five years. How many people know who Verner was two weeks ago???? There is a reason these players are available in free agency. Other than Revis, none of them has a consistent career warranting a big multi-year contract and Revis has been overpaid by millions for three seasons now. As for Cromartie, I am convinced that his hip injury is serious and not going away. A CB with a bad hip is useless. That is why he was cut and that is why he is still out there without a contract. The Jets have other holes to fill. They still need a guard and more OL depth. They need LBs. They need a third down back. They need a back up QB. They need a TE. There has not been much out there in FA at those positions. They need another receiver. Yet for 7 days, this board has whined and whined about not signing a CB. I prefer the conservative approach and am glad Idzik is taking the long view. And passing on Jackson at the cost of $12 million and a draft pick is smart. I want no part of him at that price. Been there, done that. Save the money to pay players that are worth the money.
Agian with the decker, idzik's fa claim to fame eric decker. That puts us winning this division doesn't it???
We could have signed every fuckin free agent available and it wouldn't have won us the division. We would have just been screwed in the long term. Enough of the stupid shit man. You sound like a child constantly whining.
Because we don't know if he's going to be healthy enough to play well next year? He hasn't signed anywhere at this point because nobody knows if he's going to be healthy yet. As soon as it appears that he'll be ok he'll catch on somewhere, maybe even here.
Because the urgency to sign a corner back is not the high which leads me to believe that they either have one on the roster, or see one in the draft. Why pay all that money if its only going to be a minimal upgrade at the position?
I would love for you to name 2-3 other teams with a worst starting CB tandem then Milliner and Walls. That is a major cause for concern. Youre are smoking some serious $hit if you can honestly say that those two as our top 2 CBs dont scare you at all. Pair them with our below average safety and this secondary could be one of the worst this franchise has seen in god knows how long.
Noted. I am under the impression he is 100% after he said he is 100% in a tweet a month ago. And that Zona has already been talking contract. I would like Cro back for one more since we whiffed on multiple FAs.
I think your missing the point. Is Decker going to win the division? Of course he's not but it shows you that if Idizik wants a certain player he can get the deal done. I guess you'd rather he make a bad deal than no deal huh?
Cro is going to say he's 100% if he needs a crutch to get around. He knows the business and he knows a 30 year old CB with a bad wheel draws no interest. I'm guessing that at the moment Cro's price is too high for people to take a chance on. If he dropped the price dramatically then he might find somebody willing to take a chance on him. He's not going to do that though and so this will drag on into the spring and early summer as people try to get good information on his hip.
That's five months from now...lots of time to grab a free agent, make a trade, draft a rookie. Idzick has a full bag of tricks including cash, cap and picks to get that done in the next two to three months. I understand those all fall into the "devil you don't know" category, but I'm not forgetting about the "devil you do know."
You look at how we play schematically and it's obvious two good corners are requisite. I don't think we can play good D consistently with a combo of Walls/Milliner or Milliner/rookie, although I do think Milliner will get better in time. IMO we need to bring in an established Corner whether it be Cro or a Carlos Rogers or trade for a guy.
We have been very spoiled by CBs so anything will probably make jet fans panic when it comes to that subject lol
