I did see an item last week where a blog (and there are many) rated Revis the best CB in the NFL last season. Now we all know he wasn't (in 2013). I just looked up PFF and that was their rating.
Yeah but its gotten a full rework. Draft teams from the pro bowl selections. Game was actually a really fun game to watch this season as both teams played hard. Night and day from last couple years
Rex undoubtedly wanted him and Idzik did what he did last year, giving Rex the cheap things he wanted.
The point though is that when the Pats couldn't run they lost more than they won. I'll guarantee you that if the Pats could have run the ball against the Jets last year neither of those games is close.
My gut tells me there is a 70-30% chance that we land DRC within the next couple of days. His contract in the range of 7.5-8M per year with some later year cap friendly constrains. I further believe Idzik is a few moves ahead of anyone else and already working on some names that have not been mentioned at all, or for that matter not even released to free agency. Further, while I'm in a free spinning thought process, I'm guessing he is desperately trying to trade Sanchez to the Raiders for a later round pick, and in his spare time figuring out if he should sign MJD or wait to grab Desean Jackson for a fourth round. Whatever moves he makes, he is thinking long term and best for the future of the team. He will pleasantly surprise us all. If all of this comes through I will freak the fuck out with happiness.
This coming from the person who didn't know who Sean Gilbert is and that he was Revis' uncle. Pot, meet kettle.
Sounds to me like the Jets made an offer to Ro-Cro that was not as much as he wanted and the Giants didn't match it and he is going back to the Giants tomorrow in an effort to get one or the other to up the money.
Just curious ... if the Jets dont get ACromartie or DRC, are there any potential quality CBs that are disgruntled and could be had for trade? Bc it seems like if both the Cromarties go to different teams, then the Jets would absolutely be pigeon holed into drafting a CB 1st round again. I say this bc you cant go into training camps with either Walls, Wilson, or a 2nd round rookie prospect as a starting cb, especially when Dee Milliner is the opposite starter. You just can't do that, theres no other way to say it.
DRC is in the classic position of needing a team to make an iffy gamble on him. The right move is to give him either a one year deal or a cap-friendly deal that doesn't make you cry if he reverts to being the inconsistent player than he has been for much of his career. He's got 19 Int's in 92 career starts and just 6 in his last 44 games. That's about 2 a year since he left Arizona. That's not a $9M a year CB and it's really shaky at $7M a year.
you do realize this was his first year as a starter..yes, he graded out as a top nt, also the pro bowl is a joke, antonio cromartie was one of the worst cb in the nfl and made the pro bowl, vince wilfork is not great anymore as teams will look at him as a player to rotate. these are fact not my opinion
In 2011 Seattle went into the season with 2 rookie CB's as their starters including a UDFA in Brandon Browner. To say that you can't go into the season with a rookie CB starting for you is to ignore what the Jets actually did last year with Milliner and what the world champions did three years ago in their build process. I think it's more than likely that the Jets go into next season with Milliner opposite Walls or a rookie CB. If they can get somebody like DRC on a discount deal they'll probably do that but you can't put money into CB's and expect to build a strong roster at the same time.
Not remotely insane. I think that's one of the more likely scenarios and the Jets are as likely to do well with it as any other scenario out there.
Thats because you haven't realized yet that Walls is no starter and is way to highly inconsistent but i guess he cant be much worse then Cro was last year.
