i have to disagree, i have no loyalty to him. he is a football player and i try to objectively look at him and his performance. the fact he is a jet has absolutely nothing to do with it. i look at him the same way i look at matt leinart or sam bradford or tony romo. i just happen to look at him more often and when things go wrong instead of laughing i get annoyed.

that doesnt make any difference in my opinion of his performance, especially over a long period. and thats my issue. too many people want me to like the guy just because he is hte jets qb and he "led" the team to 2 afc divisional round playoff championships.

hate is a funny thing in the sports world. i hate plenty of players, as players. i dont know any of these guys as people so its not like i hate them as a person. i have hated alot of guys as players. shit i hated eric lindros so much that i stopped watching the rangers when the brought him to the team.

and you i hope dont genuinely hate me for my opinion. i am not tied to this team, i can make a decision one way or another on who i like and who i dont like. shit the guys on the team make decisions on that on a regular basis. at one point santonio holmes hated certain guys on the team.

you cant expect me to like a guy or like how he plays simply because he is on the team i root for. thats silly.

No I don't hate you, not as a person, as a fan :D

I kid, you're one of the even keeled posters, it's the guys that are constantly dumping on the same player or coach ad nauseum that suck.

No, I've never owned or worn a jersey with a players name on it other than mine since I outgrew my Namath jersey when I was about 13. I had a bunch of hockey jerseys when I was a kid, Bruins, Maple Leafs, but never put the 4 or the 1 on them. I did get my kids some Chrebet, Pennington, Leon, LT and Sanchez jerseys when they were younger and just got my son a CJ Fair jersey.

I didnt say I love Gholston, I always held put hope to the very last that somehow it would click, but I never hated the guy. Not even now.

Schaub in this system, and City would not survive. He had premier offensive talent and failed, how would he deal with mediocre talent and enormous pressure of the City lights??

I think he'd do well in Dallas.

And they say Timmy is polarizing. Here's 164 pages of arguments about Mark pro and con. And most of it not very nice. This forum allows you to use any language you want. Hopefully we can go to the next chapter in Jets history. If you hold onto Mark this will go on forever. I'm sure Mark's fans will then blame the coaching staff of his new team after he throws a couple of pick 6's. If the Raiders they'll have Tony Sparano to kick around. For all the Sanchize-Sparano haters he played Mark over everyone even when he imploded. That's the reason for being fired: for playing him.

I love slander, it's such a wonderful thing. Nice to know you have such a hardon for me, not interested but it's still nice to know. Fact remains Stokes, you're a lawyer (so at least you've claimed in other threads) and your arguments show it. You twist words, highlight specific sound bytes to try to make your case. You throw around the term "made up stats" as though I were the one who introduced them or they came from some disreputable source. You stir the much and throw it to see what sticks and what doesn't and if something doesn't stick you keep throwing it till you delude yourself in to believing that it is true..like your argument of "made up bullshit". Everything I've said is documentable from outside and reputable sources, at least regarding statistics. Your only argument past that point is "blah blah blah, I don't agree or it isn't an official stat" blah blah blah".

Hate me all you want, that's fine. You say I hate Sanchez, that's fine with me. You can believe in yellow fairies that pour morning tea in to your cup, that's fine with me as well...doesn't make either true or a reality but you can believe what you want to believe. I hope, for Sanchez's sake that he proves me wrong at some point in his career, I doubt he will but for him I hope he does. I've never wished him harm, never wished him continued failure, never spoken ill of him as a person (except for some juvenile behavior when the butt dance video showed up). I don't hate the man, despite what you'd have other's believe. I just don't think he's a very good Quarterback and I don't believe he ever will be. As a Jets fan it is my best interest to hope the team cuts or trades players that I don't believe will ever amount to anything. Such is the case with Sanchez, if I don't believe he'll ever be a good QB why should I root for him to stay with the Jets? I'm a fan of the team, not any individual player. I gave Sanchez 4 seasons to win me over or turn me off. at the end of 2010 I even stated after his best playoff game that maybe he has "it". I also said he'd have to continue that in to 2011. Yeah I hate the guy, NOT.

He is what he is, a subpar QB at this point in his career who rode a very good defense and running game to two playoff years. But if the defense wasn't at the top of it's game the team couldn't win because Sanchez isn't a difference maker, at best he's a JAG at this point in his career.

BTW mods, what part of stokes post to another poster that rants only about me and calls me all sorts of names doesn't qualify as a banning? I've been warned about much less in the past.

Mark Sanchez is the best option "Football-wise" for the Jets to not only be on the team, but START the 2014 season. He is a better fit than Vick or Schaub or any rookie QB the Jets draft. He is a better QB than Geno by far, but I don't want to get into that debate. The problem is the Jets burned down the Sanchez bridge with how poorly they handled him in 2012 (bringing in Tebow) and 2013 (throwing him to the wolves in preseason). Heck, even in 2011 by taking all his weapons from him. Not to mention how pathetic Jets fans have treated their most successful QB since Namath. For all those reasons, I think it is best for both sides to part ways, but this is 90% on the Jets.

I think a portion of that is the poster vs poster interaction. It definitely seems to intensify peoples positions. I have found myself doing it in the past and try not to let it happen. But I will say I hate Sanchez and I will get frustrated by him and then I get frustrated when people refuse to see my POV on the subject. Both sides are right to an extent. I think we sometimes just get too dug in to admit the other guy has a point. But sometimes the other guy is just batshit crazy too.

I think what you meant to accuse me of is libel. Slander is defamation made orally whereas libel is defamation in the form of a written statement or publication. In either case the defamation needs to be false and needs to have caused harm, neither of which are the case here.

But I'm not a lawyer so I could be wrong.

Well said, pretty much spot on.

I've found myself arguing less about how good or bad a player is and more about assertions made by posters that make no sense. For instance someone the other day asked how anyone could honestly say Sanchez didn't get a fair shake. Now you may hate the player and believe he got WAY more than a fair shake. But that doesn't mean someone else can't have the honest opinion that he wasn't given a fair shake. That stuff bugs me so I have fun debating that point. Not whether Sanchez got a fair shake, how someone could deny another's opinion as honest.

Or the guy who said Sanchez NEVER "dropped a dime" like the one pass Geno threw early in the season, which led some guy that hates Sanchez to say he'd only thrown 8-10 really good passes in his entire career. Literally, out of 1100 completions and over 70 TDs in games that count only 8-10 were really good. I find silliness like that fun to argue about when I'm bored because with all the ammo you have against Sanchez, why do you need to deny that the guy threw a decent pass every now and then. Maybe 200 times? Maybe 100 times? Only 8-10? Really?

    Sophistry.

thats exactly what this has become. and its going to happen again with geno or whoever the next poor jets qb is. i also find some folks will agree or disagree with a poster simply because of who that poster is. i typically dont agree with junc but many many times i have gone out of my way to say that i agreed with him on a point. id even venture to say i agree with him on more actual points than i disagree with him. its just that we so vehemently disagree on mark sanchez and post much more about him than any other single points.

br4dway sux is a guy i agree with more often than not, however there are points that i dont agree with him on from time to time.

a few years ago i actually walked away from the message board because the back and forth on it had gotten to the point that it began to interfere with the game for me. and i am a guy who watches football, for football. i dont want to party or hang out or get drunk or anything else. i love to watch the game. not even to analyze it, i get to do that too but i look at that as work. i like to just sit and enjoy watching the game.

there was a piece on warren buffet a few years ago. they were following him around basically making the point that the 2nd richest man in the world is just a guy who lives in the same house he always did and does stuff that everyone else does. he said sitting in his basement, i dont want a golf course or a boat, i have friends with those things and i can go with them to enjoy that every once in awhile. i know what i enjoy, i enjoy sitting here in my chair on saturday afternoons in the fall watching nebraska football. thats what i enjoy.

    im the same way.

the rest of this stuff is just something to do to pass the time.
