I have no idea what you are talking about , except if you are suggesting Idzik is choosing what kind of D the Jets should have, in disagreement with Ryan, I don't know why Jet fans should be happy about that. I have my problems with Rex, but I don't for a minute think Idzik knows more about the D than Ryan does.

I think DRC is running out of teams who'd be willing and/or able to pay him the big bucks. I think he's actually who the jets are going after (once his price finishes coming down) because we've heard absolutely nothing about him and everybody the jets seem to be talking about appears to be a smokescreen so people don't know who they really want. The only people they've signed so far are people they've said absolutely nothing about until they were on the verge of signing them. I suspect he'll be signed by the jets to a 2 or 3 year deal at a cap friendly price with a lot of the money guaranteed.

Not my point. Idzik is not a coach but he certainly talks to other coaches. He may have heard from other coaches and from people around the league that Rex is getting too predictable. Besides he wants Rex to be the head coach not the d coordinator. As you can see Rex is not running free-agency. He doesn't have the juice he used to. It should make him a better coach if he consults on both sides of the ball.

DRC won't be more than 8-10 mil a year. He's not worth more than that. What about Asante Samuel?

Who's left (i.e., hasn't filled a CB vacancy yet) that would pay him anywhere near that? Remember that Denver, Tampa Bay, Minnesota , Indianapolis, and the Patriots have all made big free agent cornerback acquisitions.

He's a good corner.... We need one. But your right we might be bidding against ourselves for him, most teams that needed a corner, already got one.

It's possible the Jets believe CB is not a need.

Maybe upgrading the atrocious safety play will be equivalent to adding Revis.

I know Cro was burned a lot and looked horrible doing so, where was the safety help?

I think the colts pulled an al Davis when they gave vonte Davis 9.5 mill a year. I think has been a big problem in gauging players worth. Week ago, no one thought a corner was worth 10 mill a year. Since that absurd signing made revis deal seem fair. Either way the jets have to do something. This is getting to a scary point IMO. I don't understand wht idzick is doing. I hope he knows

    Well fellas here it is..

@AdamSchefter: Broncos fee-agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is scheduled to fly to New York tonight to meet with the Jets, per team source.

I'm wondering if bringing in Champ Bailey might be a good move (if he'd be willing to come). He probably can't be a corner every down anymore but could help all over the secondary and teach the young guys.

Not a bad idea but seems like we already have a player like that in Ed Reed. (Is he back for next year ?)

I wouldn't mind champ either but we have a lot of cap room and might as well go after a younger player like DRC and the Ed Reed decision hasn't been decided yet

Looks like we will probably get DRC! I would guess that he will go for somewhere in the $7m - $8m range, definitely not the $10m range. That would solidify the secondary in a major way without breaking the bank / overpaying.

DRC turned down $9MM/year from Denver.

Champ Bailey is done, want no part of him.

    V. Davis, Talib & Shields all got paid in the $8-10MM range. DRC is on their level but the Jets may have a little leverage now.

Still think Cardinals and Browns are looking at corners.

That offer turned out to be just a rumor. Rodgers-Cromartie says it was never made.

As soon as the Broncos signed Talib, that $9m/year offer went away, so I agree that the Jets have some leverage. On the flip side, DRC has some leverage over the Jets as well. Rex's schemes really do need at least one high-quality corner in order to excel, and if we don't get DRC our defense is just not going to be as good as it could be.

I could see some kind of deal being worked out along the lines of $8.5m - $9m including a bonus. That would be fair to him, and I think also fair to the Jets.

The Cards don't really have a lot of cap space, only about $10m, so they would have to restructure Carson Palmer to create some more room. But that makes it harder to move on from Palmer, so you don't really want to do that. I think they will end up signing Cromartie on like a $2m - $3m 1 year "prove it" deal. The Browns have lots of cap space, but hopefully DRC will prefer to play for Rex Ryan with a fair offer.

I say a 3 year, $20 million deal with $13.5 guaranteed for DRC
