I really enjoyed watching Steve Smith throughout his career; love the way he approaches the game with his intensity. Having said that, he's near the end of his career. Aside from what you already said about Idzik's M.O., I also am inclined to think that Steve Smith will want to go where there is an established (maybe even top tier) Qb. After playing through the growing pains with Cam, I can't imagine he'll want to make one last push with Geno.
Thats been out there for a few days and I don't even see a visit set up...maybe we really want to see him land with the Pats.
Has Nicks made any visits yet? A few days ago, I heard that he floated out there the idea of playing in San Diego with Rivers. I also heard discussions that he would take a 1-year prove-it deal with a team where he can be productive (e.g. Chargers), OR a multiyear deal with a weaker team because then he'd have his security and not have to worry about producing numbers in one season as an audition for his next contract.
Several news reports said that was the case. While it is the media, and one should always view what they say with some skepticism, it's the best source we have. When coupled with the fact that Woody despised Revis and his agents, it's a slam dunk. There was never any way that Revis was coming back to the Jets. Anyone not blinded by fanboy lust can plainly see that.
Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN 1m Jets have had some general conversations with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie's camp, I'm told. #NYJ still in market to add a CB. #nyj
I don't see anyway that Jones signs for less than $3 million. Decker's getting a little over $7 million.
Hmm, that makes sense with the release of Smith. Do you think he'll go there on a one-year or multiyear deal?
Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN 12s Keeping with the CB theme, the Jets would like to bring in Captain Munnerlyn for a visit, I'm told. #nyj

By the sounds of it a 1 year deal is a real possibility. This is not a great FA WR market, he'd be gambling on having a big year and getting the big deal next year.
Good move. Add him and Cro and we will be in good shape. Granted, it's not Darrelle Revis but it sure as hell is not a money hungry $12 million a year corner also
Got'cha. Let's say Carolina offers him a 1 year contract. Do you think it'd be a good idea to try to sway him to come here on a multiyear deal?
That was a player who could've really helped. was hoping we would make a play for him. 5th rounder totally fair comp.
