It depends on who you spend it on and what position. If you throw it away on a number 2 or number 3 WR then yes it does not get you anything close to elite. If you get lucky and spend it on a guy like T.J. Ward it does and you get some change left over. But the point is valid if your going to spend that kind of money you should get a difference maker not a top 40-60 player at his position.
this is the perfect amount...decker wanted 10 mil a year coming in by the way... 7 mil a year for a boardline #1 reciever or the best #2 reciever in the nfl great signing idzik ...lets get Capt. and jones now!
5 years 36 mil for a big receiver who put up 8 TD's with fucking Tebow throwing him the ball and you people are bitching!? Get lost and go root for some one else.
people forget that maybe this guy can take stephen hill under his wing and teach him some stuff. hill has similar traits to demayrus thomas, and decker played with him. hopefully hill can regain some confidence
people in here saying this is an overpay are so unrealistic they want us to build a team literally solely off the draft absoultely NO FA signings when you have 40 mil in cap space this is a great signing
This is building at its finest. .. Bring in solid players on good deals and then you have the cap flex to go get the big piece you may need to make a push for the superbowl when the team is finally built.
I swear we could win the Super Bowl and you'd have some of our fans complaining about being in cap hell. No win with those Jets fans, pure masochists
Now the state of this entire franchise is in complete jeopardy, and you want me to give YOU a break? are you nuts? This is insanity
That said, with the rising cap, deals are going to get larger and larger each year regardless of an individual team's actions. Determining whether a team "overpaid" or not is a difficult argument to make, though in this case I undoubtedly believe that Idzik did not overpay for a decent wide receiver who is currently the best receiver on our roster.
btw to people complaining he's not a #1 receiver...who the hell was Seattle's #1 receiver this year? (rhetorical, I know it's Tate, a guy who's similar to Decker, probably not as talented). Baltimore's #1 receiver is Torrey Smith and they won the Super Bowl last year. You don't need Megatron to be your #1. At least get solid pros, which we haven't had around here for a while.
Jesus fuckig Christ you win superbowls with excellent drafting and or a top QB. Idzik LMFAO this is great. So not only is Decker now some stud WR, but he also is going to transform one of the worst busts at WR I've ever seen! Special guy that Decker is!
