Point taken, but is being unable to field better players equivalent to not giving one guy a "fair shake?"
All I can surmise from this topic is that there are no viable backups other than Mark Sanchez on the Jets roster should Smith go down with an injury...and you all know what the chances with that are with a QB that uses his legs a lot. At this point, unless Jets sign a veteran and proven backup, MS stays put
He gave his opinion. It was either honest or not. When someone gives an opinion and is not being honest I take that to mean he is being deceitful. That he's lying. You can disagree with his opinion, many here do. Some here agree with his opinion, not many. But to question his opinion as being honest is to say he is being deceitful. There you go. I understand English perfectly. _
Kristian Dyer @KristianRDyer 1h Also hearing from a league source that the Jets are prepared to be out of the McCown sweepstakes before his visit this week. #nyjets Expand
No. You don't. I supplied you with a perfectly good definition from the dictionary; you're just too stubborn to admit it because it doesn't fit your agenda.
I've got no agenda. Folks are free to have differing opinions and you can agree with them or disagree with them. Because YOU believe he's been given a fair shot does not means that others can honestly believe that he has not. I'm not saying I agree with Woody or not. But the man, in my view, gave his honest opinion that Sanchez was not given a fair shot. I don't care whether you agree with him or not. _
Despite this forum hate for him and non stop bashing, as of this post Sanchez clearly is thought highly of to still be remaining while we got rid of Holmes and Cro who were no slouches. Edit : Oh wait! http://thejetpress.com/2014/03/11/report-mark-sanchez-released-within-24-hours/
Okay, lets assume for just a moment that it is BS, it would still be 1 decent year out of 4. But it was at best a low end average QB year, at best. I've given him kudos for 2010 being the best year of his career, but that's not saying much as he was still subpar.. And yes, you can in today's NFL get to the playoffs and win games with crappy QB play, the playoffs are littered with QB's that led their teams to one good year but were really crappy QB's overall. 2010 showed some promise, I've granted that...but it was just promise, nothing more and he failed to build upon it.
Sanchez is still a lot worse than most of the guys you mention. We know. We have seen him pee his pants under pressure up close. He is a symbol of failure, someone who will always come up with the bad play at the key moment.
I have seen a guy with 1 year of college starts win playoff games on the road as an underdog against Rivers, Manning, and Brady. The Jets will have some serious offensive talent. Let Sanchez compete with Smith in 2014. It will create the least amount of media frenzy unlike a Vick signing. You bring in Vick you should just trade geno because Vick wants to start, wants more money than Sanchez would be paid, and has been hurt or benched the last 3 years. 35TD and 37 TO - not once sniffing 16 games. You start Vick, he gets hurt, and you tell Geno ok go get em kid - forget it he will be mentally destroyed. Let Smith battle Sanchez with new weapons, see what you have at QB and decide on that in 2015. Maybe one of them comes up big, one does enough to be traded, you get to package some picks in a trade for a QB, or get to move up. Plus with Vick saying he wants to wait until after the draft to sign now - Jets can't drop Sanchez and hope to land a veteran in May.
Yep, the man who helped us have more opportunities to reach SBs in franchise history(despite playing just 4 seasons) is a symbol of failure. Jet fans are the worst
it makes sense, we'll see what happens. If they strike out w/ Vick I think it becomes a real strong possibility.
Nice, but we were talking passing not rushing. 20 rushing + passing TD's still isn't an impressive number to brag about, Especially if they're basically 3 yard runs. Nice try though, really.
