Decker is definitely an improvement over Holmes. Bigger target, better character and attitude (as far as I know), and if nothing else is a lot healthier. It doesn't matter how much talent a player has if he's always injured and can't practice or play. One of the major problems Geno had last year in addition to having no weapons to work with, those players (I can't even call them "weapons") were never the same two weeks in a row. Get a grip.
Which all comes back to him coming here. We have no playmakers and a TON of money. Everyone bitches that we have not spent any of it and sat on our hands yesterday. Well here we are. The chance to sign a very good receiver for $6-7 million, and people are bitching again. We need weapons and we haven't spent any money. Idzik goes out and finds a weapon to pay him money and the reaction here is, "terrible idea" lol Fuckin joke.
If we had a true number 1 receiver or something close to it on the roster then bringing in Decker wouldn't bother me.
And Nicks has destroyed top corners while Decker is the one getting destroyed by the top corners. Tell me again who's better....
decker had 8 w/ tebow/Orton in 2011. Kelrey has 6 total in 3 years. Johnson ha done down year TD wise w/ 5, sandwiched around that 5 TD season were 16 and 12 TD seasons. keep trying.
Good thing we're able to have both on our roster then. By your logic, we'll be able to sign Kerley for cheaper because he had lower production, while we'd be overpaying Decker. I guess that balances.
Great post, and imo a thread closer. The Decker haters have nothing. I am going to find something more productive to do than read their crap.
If we could get him for 6 to 8 million, I would take Decker here with the Jets absolutely. We pair him up with a wide receiver in the draft and a TE and I think we will be in much better shape.
This whole thing is about money and I don't think there are two people here that realize that. Nobody hates Decker..stop with that garbage. It's a question of how mush we pay him and what it is we are paying him to be. I said before and I will again I don't believe for a second that Idzik will overpay him or anybody else and that's all that should matter.
that isn't my argument at all, just pointing out a fact. someone said kerley was more ewxplosive, less TDs and less yds per w/ worse QBs(based on his 2011 season) disputes that.
I meant more explosive with the ball in his hands. Just because someone has better stats doesn't make them a more explosive player or faster.
You've made that clear, that's not what I'm saying. But yea it's not worth arguing anymore. I'd be happy to get decker for relatively cheap because I don't think he's as overrated as people think. I know he's not all pro but we wouldn't pay him that way he'd be an upgrade. I also don't know why you think we can get Nicks. We haven't expressed interest and he said he wanted to go to a team where he'd be a piece of the puzzle with a good quarterback. Seems unlikely he'd want to play given our quarterback situation. I bet if/when Nicks signs elsewhere people are gonna get pissed at Idzik for "blowing it" even though it seems like he doesn't want to play here. And overpaying him is even riskier than overpaying decker.
