i think they thought he could do more than he ended up being able to do. i think rex really thought he could be one of those consistent top 5 qbs in the league. and that is part of the problem.

it wasnt rediculous but it was high, it was top 5 pick high before rookie pay scale. but you are right it isnt an excuse. i really think they thought he was better than he ended up being and they really thought santonio holmes was a top 5 guy too. and that they could "fill in" around them. and more importantly win with defense. which they almost did, but at some point you have to score some points.

then once santonio got his contract i think he fell off a bit and mark got beat up and became a guy who for 2 years was a bit gun shy.

Turnovers were high but he was also getting killed behind the line. Wayne Hunter was no better than a wet blanket blocking guys. 26TD 17 INTs -- those are numbers you want to build on with better OL and better targets.

he nearly sniffed 30 TDs, was only 3 behind all time franchise lead.

in his rookie year his INts came in bunches but he was good overall, was very good in 2010 and was good in 2011. Only one bad year where he had the worst healthy skill talent in the league and still was better than eli manning 2013.

If they have to choose between Vick or Sanchez I would go with Sanchez if he will restructure. Vick will basically ruin Geno -- Vick will want to start, paper will call for him to start, reporters will be all over him at camp, it will be Tebow all over again. The front office won't come out and say Smith is the man and with MM having worked with Vick before it will be the assumption he will start and the Jets are giving up on Geno. Then when Vick gets hurt -- which will happen -- you bring in a broken Geno Smith.

Really? Have you ever "sniffed" his TD totals in 2010?

All I know is Vick hasn't played 16 games in a season since before prison...his last three seasons he has 35 TD and 37 turnovers....someone explain to me why they guy is the person people are extincted to bring in?

He was garbage that year. He had a few solid games sprinkled in. But he still wasn't very good.

he was good overall, a step back after a very good 2010 season.

No he wasn't good overall. He regressed after an average albeit promising 2010 season. He was expected to take a big step up.

26TD passes and 6 running TD with lesser talent around him? I think he had a lot more put on his shoulders in 2011 and had a disgruntled top receiver and a ex-con that couldn't get separation and his favorite target was cut for a receiver they didn't keep. He made mistakes, but he had more of that offense on his shoulders without the best supporting cast and was solid in some key phases - red zone offense was on point in 2011. team struggled at the finish, but Sanchez did enough to warrant some new weapons in 2012 - Jets went a different direction and made 2012 a throwaway season.

how was he expected to take a big step up w/ below average weapons and a barely average run game?(that was below avg most of the season)

Bro he was drafted 5th overall. He's supposed to have more responsibility.

The talent was good enough to win with.

Repeat, In his career he's only sniffed 20 one time....Until he proves otherwise someplace else it was just a fluke like Maris's 61. 1 in 4 is not a pattern, 3 of four is. Again, only 1 season above 55% completion, 2 seasons with more Picks than TD's. Career 89 Turnovers to 80 TD's (combined passing and rushing). Read that again, 4 seasons and he has 9 more turnovers than TD's.

He wasn't very good in 2010, he was very much on the low end of average.

Worst rated QB to have started 4 consecutive seasons since 1950....All you need to know.

This argument about 2010 is just plain BS and you all know that it is. You do not go 11-5 and win two road playoff games with shitty QB play you just do not.

Sanchez's numbers are skewed in 2010 because he had some shitty games that skewed his numbers downward. All in all Sanchez was very good in 2010 Andrew Luck type of good in 2010.

Completion percentage is a terrible stat and is more a product of the offense you run than true accuracy. I have not looked at this stat for 2010 but the type of offense the Jets ran in 2010 3rd conversions is by far the most important stat.

Turnovers no excuse for that he has to many but he did balance them with some big plays. Sanchez plays bad in bunches and good bunches which is why the extreme viewpoints. There really is enough evidence to support both sides.

I am still kind of on the Shuan Hill bandwagon a little bit. The perfect kind of guy to push Geno and maybe a later round pick...can start if we HAVE to have him start and he bring us the insurance of a Vet. Vick is done...done done done...can't ANYONE see that right now?

Why is Vick "done" if he comes here he'd be a backup. Plus when he was healthy he played well.

I guess my point is that I would want someone here that COULD start the whole season if he had to. That is not Vick. He hasn't played a whole season since he got out of the pokey. I don't know...nothing really looks ALL that good...but for some odd reason I have Hill on my radar and not Vick.

If you understood the English language you would not have introduced the word "lying" into this conversation.
