2011 is fair game to me, he did not play as well and he had the guys around him to at least get the Jets to 10 wins. The pick 6 in Denver, inexcusable, the safety against the Giants, inexcusable, the pick 6 against the Dolphins inexcusable.

Miami had a pick 6? I thought he had 3 picks total and they led to 9 points? Or the other Miami game? They all still blur to me. The key thing that bothered me with Sanchez in 2012 was decision making. This was something he was supposed to get better at and if he improved there his play would dramatically improve. He threw a one handed INT to start the season which wasn't good for what I was looking for. Then he started throwing away points in the RZ then started doing the same late in games, and it was just frustrating. His decision making needed to get better for him to make the leap and I didn't see improvement in that category from end of 2011 onwards

2012 counted for everybody else so it damn sure should count for Sanchez too.

Mark Sanchez was at the Jets facility yesterday to meet with the team's trainers and doctors for them to check his shoulder.

This. To me competency at the OC and QB coach will have a far greater impact to Mark's game than the level of talent around him. Minus one bone-headed play (the Ansah INT), I liked what I saw from the MM version of Sanchez though the sample size was very small.

For the haters, note I excluded the end zone INT and letting the clock run out at the half with no points from the bone-headed play list. The former was not all on him; Winslow faked as though he was crossing the face of the defender then at the very last minute cut behind him. Mark threw to the spot as he thought Winslow was going as he should. The latter I just chalk up to him trying to make a play in a meaningless pre-season. I doubt very much he would have extended the play as he did a regular season game.

Or better yet Sanchez/Geno have a Alex Smith/Colin Kaepernick career arc. Sanchez not only figures it out, Geno continues to develop to the point where Sanchez (or Geno) becomes expandable and valuable enough that we can get quality compensation in return. That would be the best case scenario for the TEAM, for those actually interested that sort of thing.

The bold above is ridiculously funny and true while the bold below is just ridiculous.

The decision making in 2012 I believed spawned from him pressing to make plays that were for the most part not available due to talent and coaching. To be honest, I still don't know how we managed to win 6 games that year. On paper it could be argued that we were the worst team in the league and that's just based on personnel not factoring Sparano and the Tebow fiasco. In contrast, the Chiefs won just 2 games that year and had something like 5 or 6 HEALTHY pro-bowlers on their roster.

It was the pick near the endzone, it probably wasnt a pick 6 actually. I know the Phins scored though after.

People dont understand the whole pressing thing, I watched Drew Brees, a top 5 QB, press the same way Sanchez did when he lost his head coach. Yes to us it looks like idiotic mistakes, but the thing is, they are under so much pressure that they feel they need to lift the whole team. Brees felt that way, made mistakes we never really saw from him, but he didnt have Sean Peyton and felt like he had to make plays. Sanchez went through the same issue, Brees has the ring though.

He had the same decision making problems near the end of 2011 too. And from the first play of the 2012 season, way before he needed to "press". And still the whole "pressing" thing is still silly. Down one possession to TEN on their 20 yard line with around 2 minutes in the game. Why press? It's 4 down territory. Driving in NE on 2nd down with someone in the flat wide open, why "press"? To start the season, one handed INT while getting sacked for 0 yard loss, why "press"? It wasn't just pressing.

And to the Drew Brees argument above, Drew Brees threw for 43 TDs and 19 INT. He was pressing and while his INT % was a whopping 0.2 above his career average, he was pressing and making positive plays to offset the negative ones. It's a terrible argument to make, it's not even close to a similar situation. Sanchez threw more INTs than TDs, Brees threw for over 20+ TDs than INTs. Drew Brees gets a pass because a) it was a unique scenario in the NFL, b) because he didn't play like the worst QB in the NFL, not because of a ring.

No one will trade for Sanchez and give up anything for him. The veteran QB market is piss poor and if Sanchez had played for any other team not under the microscope of NY media, had 4 playoff wins, two AFC championship games, and complied 32TDs in 2011 before a 2012 riddled with issues all over the team people would be happy to bring him in to compete for a job given his age.

But y'all would rate Sanchez more objectively since the emotional connection wouldn't be there.

    Haha... actually laughed at that..

But seriously it just bumps this thread and keeps people talking about a subject that isn't going to change and basically comes down to 2 men.. Sanchez and Idzik. To continue to elongate this thread with round after round of "When's he gonna get cut" is meaningless.

At this point, If I see this thread get bumped it should be a breaking event with a source, otherwise just let it die.... For everyone's sake.
