really? one example thus disputes the assertion that it is unlikely? one example does not reflect a trend.

JJ Watt is closer to the football and interior pressure is still the best way to take a QB out of his game. That's far more valuable.

I don't disagree, Watt is an amazing player.

You mean $8 mil? Trolling or just awful at math?

Would you rather have two top-10 corners or one top-3 corner coming off an ACL injury? I know what I'd take.

    8+4=12, right?

32 mil divided by 4 years equals 8 mil
16 mil divided by equals 4 mil
    8 mil + 4 mil equals 12 mil

Revis was still the best corner in the game even coming off the injury and nowhere near 100%

    It's not 32M non-guaranteed + 16M guaranteed.

    It's a 32M contract, 16 of which is guaranteed.

I'd be really shocked if the Patriots are truly players for any sort of Revis sweepstakes. That's two-fold, really... I'd be shocked if the Bucs were shopping him around already and shocked if New England was interested. I know Belichick thinks very highly of Revis but the Patriots typically put a cap on what they spend at each position, and this would blow that out of the water.

I would not mitigate the impact a healthy Revis could have on any defense, though. Look at the difference in the Patriots' defense with and without Talib over the past two seasons. When healthy, he's changed their D completely. And Revis is of course better than Talib.

Maybe the Pats are just floating Revis name to make their negotiations with Talib easier? They're also dicking with the Jets of course but that's par for the course.

at some point NE has to do something different to get back over the hump. Brady doesn't have many years left, I know it isn't their style to get the high priced FA(outside of Adalius Thomas) but the other way hasn't worked for what they consider a success. NE is like the Yankees now where anything short of a SB title is a failure. 80% of the teams in the league would kill for what NE has done post 2004 but for them it isn't good enough. they keep losing guys and relying on Brady to keep them in the SB hunt, when do they make a splash and try something different? when do they give him some weapons? when do they take some pressure off of him?

You sound like you're upset they aren't surrounding Brady with a better team.

Sure, but the value is still there, look at the AFC Championship game, the major turning point in that game was Talib getting hurt and the Patriots having to change their defense, a top CB (and Revis is significantly better than Talib) does a ton for your defense.

Oh I agree that a contract will get sorted before a trade is finalised, but either way you spell out it you are going to have to pay Revis big money. If you go down the traditional route of guaranteed money then his contract will play out like a more expensive Mario Williams who got 25 million guaranteed, his cap numbers were 9 million and then 12 million before jumping up to 18,19 million. That's still a big cap hit and very un patriot like.

According to http://www.spotrac.com/cap-tracker/nfl/the Broncos have more cap room than the pats so Id say the Broncos are more likely to sign Revis than the pats.

And as for what Revis thinks of Bill, http://nypost.com/2012/05/11/jets-star-revis-rips-patriots-coach-belichick/

Yes right the Patriots aren't like the Yankees one bit and to compare them is an undeserved complement. As a jets fan post 2004 Patriots would be awful. Pre2004 would be ideal.

The Broncos have spent lavishly on CB's in the past. Whether they believe that Champ Bailey's record-setting (at the time) contract helped them or hurt them is the main question. Bailey came on board and they had a couple of good seasons and then declined for half a decade.

I could see them renting Revis if the trade price was right mainly due to the tick-tick-tick of Peyton Manning's last year or two.

It probably wouldnt hurt to spend future draft picks on Revis. In all honesty, this might be Peytons lasts season and the moment he leaves, that franchise will have to basically start over because that team outside of Manning is very flawed.

It's always going to hurt to spend future picks on a player. The draft is where your team gets it's long-term value.

The Broncos will have to find a QB when Manning retires. Having fewer picks isn't going to help that process along.

I dont think they can worry to much about post-Manning. Unless they think they have something in Oisweiler. Id break the bank for next season. Im not sure though they can afford Revis anyway.
