Will do. My wife died of breast cancer. Mother of my four children. Life partner since 1980. Sorry if the word is a little touchy to me. My sincerest apologies. Carry on. _
No need to apologize to me. You should apologize to papapump. It was his post that you totally took out of context in order to chastise.
Okay, now that is just a dick thing to say. He didn't take shit out of context, comparing a Jets player to a terrible disease like cancer is uncalled for and people just throw it around willy nilly. Many of us have lost family and friends to cancer, the comparison is atrocious and disgusting. It's the worst feeling in the world. I lost my best friend recently, there is no way to compare the sudden emptiness you feel inside... but yeah lets cheapen it to labeling players that you kinda don't like. Totally justified.
I'd give him a chance to compete in TC, S Hill and Holmes should compete for #4 duties. Assuming no other team throws a multi yr deal at Tone but why would anyone at this point in his career, methinks. Draft and sign a guy, Kerley in the slot.
There is no context for the use of the term "cancer" other than insensitive ignorance. It's not a funny or cool phrase to throw around. Considering how everyone on this board has lost someone to cancer-some closer than others- I'm surprised it still gets used as much as it does. _
Why is Holmes still on this team ? My weekend has been so so , can't I end it on a high note with this assclown being cut ?
Hey I get it. I don't use the term or like the term, but it's commonly used to portray a player that's had a negative influence on a team. Getting upset over the use of the word in that context seems silly to me.
A negative influence? Like dropping a pass, or holding out for a better contract or showing up late for practice? I don't think so. I think the word should be reserved for somebody who tears the body of a team apart, like the Incognitos of the world. Commonality does not justify the overuse of the word. I remember when "horrific" described a full flaming school bus hurtling off a cliff, now it means a bad call on third and two in the first quarter.
You're right. Totally silly. When your wife of 19.7 years, you best friend, the person you've known longer than everyone in the world other than your parents and siblings and the mother of your 4 beautiful children dies of ...let's say...lupus...we'll all laugh about how silly that is. Lupus. It even sound funny. Hahahaha Acad, come on, we're all just joking here. Lupus is funny, let's not take it out of context. Silly Acad. _
See when someone calls someone a "cancer", I was always under the impression they were reffering to the cells that multiply. So calling a player a "cancer" cell is like saying the attitude of one player ends up growing and dividing among the other players. The definition of a "cancer cell" is:
You'll understand some day. Even. It's ironic hearing you the Internet police bitching about the morality police. _
Do you not understand how childish you sound reducing a term like cancer to a Webster definition? Because it has no other connotation other than a dictionary definition? Wow. And you question why I find most of your posts naive. _
I dont see what you are trying to get at? Cancer is a type of cell that is different from other cells like nervous tissue cells, hematocyte, connective cell, and the other 200+ cells............why? because cancer cells have an ability that the other cells do not have. They have the ability to replicate and invade other cells. So when someone calls a player a "cancer", they are reffering to the cancer cell, meaning that the player and the attitude they carry will spread throughout the team.
That's strange, i've been on this board for over 4 years and I don't recall flatjetfan being any sort of "internet police".
