As long as the issue he had from last year is settled, he is not a guy who I think would have constant off the field issues. Keeping Goodson while adding Tate or Brown with Ivory would give us a lot more big play ability than with Powell.
Tate is better than Powell. But it's hard to convince me on Donald Brown a guy Indy fans wanted to get rid of before this past season.
This is good to see. Powell is a third strong running back at best. He does a bunch of things decently, but he's not all that good at anything. He's a good guy to have on your team, who can step in when someone gets hurt. Ivory is a good pure runner, Goodson could be a good scat back (if he's retained).
ivory tate and powell keep rotating all three and keep them healthy all season. big play potential from all three though powell is the weakest, but hes still pretty good and i dont want to see goodson on the team over him. injuries and might have legal troubles. cant afford to miss him if the jets are going to make the playoffs next season. our run game is going to be a big factor so bringing in a guy like tate would be huge
I could be wrong, but I think Tate was upset playing behind Foster and that's why he wants out. We probably won't get him unless he's promised to start over Ivory. But yea a running game of Tate and Ivory is pretty exciting
If Woodson is healthy and can stay out of trouble, I definitely like his speed and big play ability. I like Powell, but he just isn't good. He's been a great Jet, but Idzik shouldn't let sentimentality hold the team back.
I like the idea of Brown.I think he could fit this team's personality very well.He could definitely be a 3rd down recieving option too.The more weapons the better I dont think Powell would be going anywhere.Though he'd be competing with Goodson as well as Little John Flowers who had a strong camp before getting hurt.
Both of those guys want to be feature backs, I don't see why they would come here. We need a RB that can block and catch out of the backfield.
Interesting to think about, but only if it's cheap. I'm okay with going into next season with Ivory/Powell/Goodson. I'm NOT okay with going into next season with this current group of receivers. Focus there first unless one of these guys is a bargain.
Powell is a good football player - a guy you certainly want on your team. He's one of those glue guys. The only thing missing from the Jets running game is someone that can take one to the house via screens. Powell is actually decent at pass protection, and Ivory wasn't that bad either. Maybe the Jets draft De'Anthony "Black Mamba" Thomas from Oregon
I'm okay with drafting a RB (Dri Archer?) but it depends on Goodson's situation. I do want to see what our run game would look like for a year with Ivory/Powell/Goodson.
Hes a good player but not enough to be replaced for some apparently. Its strange, he had a couple of fine games last year, but he's an all round good RB thats not GREAT at anything. He's a good blocker. he's a good receiver. He can take advantage of any gaps he's given but doesn't have a third gear. In fact the only thing he's great at is being a #2 RB. can't get much better than him in that regard. Ivory has an ability to gain yards after contact that few have going for him at least. it'll be interesting to see how things shake out with Powell by next winter, personally I think a new contract is in his future, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to check out other options. I almost posted a rant about why we're comparing a RB like Powell to a WR like Golden Tate just know... wrong one...
While we're taking about the backfield anybody feel like giving T-Bo any competition at FB? It seems like his role was to pass block on occasion and be a release valve receiving target and he was... okay at it? as far as backups go apparently Richardson is it so... should the jets look that direction in free agency or the draft?
It probably won't matter who Geno hands the ball off to if our big fatties up front don't start knocking defenders on their collective asses.
