You seem like the type that just loves to hold on to the past. No one is saying he's the guy who will start. If he lowers his salary, he competes for the job. If he beats out Geno then he's the best answer for us as he would be the best qb on the roster. If he loses, he is a solid backup to Geno. Win win
DISCLAIMER: I do not believe for a split second that Sanchez will lead the team to a 13 - 3 season nor do I believe he will lead the team at all. I doubt very strongly he will even be a NY Jet in July. I just find it ridiculous that someone purporting to be a Jet fan would want to fire the GM and coach of a team that went 13 - 3, or even 11 - 5, for instance.
No, I wouldn't want them fired if Sanchez was used to bring in a vet FA QB cheaply, then dumped in July and the team then went on regardless of what their record was. My comment was in the original context. If Sanchez is kept for the season, either as starter or backup, then I'd want them both fired. I wanted Rex fired after last season any way. I don't think he's the right guy to take the team to a SB victory. As far as I'm concerned, if Idzik does a good job in FA and the draft, and Rex doesn't have this team in the playoffs, he should be fired. IMO (and I realize that there are those, perhaps most, who won't agree with me), if Idzik keep Sanchez, then he's not the right guy at GM for the Jets. I think the only way the team can move on and cleanly separate itself from the circus and the crap of the last 3 seasons is for Sanchez and Tone to leave. I could forgive Idzik for missing out on some draft picks and making what I thought were poor moves in FA, but not for keeping Sanchez and Tone. I've seen enough dumb decisions by the GM of this team over the last 45 years to last 2 lifetimes. I have little patience for any more.
Sanchez will be cut, according to Jets insiders. Idzik can't have Sanchez beat out Geno. ...would cause too many problems. McGown, Schaub, and Vick all possible for #2 QB.
Let's try again. If Sanchez turns out to be the number one QB, regardless of how, and plays all or most of the games, and the team goes 13 - 3, because of that or even in spite of that, would you really want to fire Ryan and Idzik?
Not only fired, balls cut off and stuffed down their throats. And as impossible as it is, if Sanchez somehow miraculously wins the Super Bowl, Idzik's and Ryan's entire bloodline should be wiped from the Earth. NCJetsfan had seriously confused himself. His posts are so scattershot I'm thinking he's off his ADD meds. _
No, of course not, silly, but the likelihood of that happening is so remote small, that it's not even worth discussing.
I'm not confused at all, but you obviously are...you have me confused with someone who gives a shit about what you think or say.
If Idzik, is worried about Smith being beat out by Sanchez, for a SECOND time, then he has no business being a GM. That leak, sounds more like an insider submarining Sanchez. Idzik, picked Smith, but cmon man..do you really think he didnt know the kid was raw? I think the media sucks. And FWIW, had the kept Smith from shooting himself in the foot 3 times week two, this was a playoff team with little talent at 9-7, instead of 8-8. I think. Of they can come to a reasonable financial agreement with Sanchez, Idzik could give a shit about who starts opening day, as long as they win.
P. P.S. Bad scenario. Every one of those guys can beat out Geno in training camp, given a chance. Having Sanchez do it...is the only face saving opportunity. And...of the media reports are true...suppose Sanchez plays his way onto the field, and out performs Smith...how does Idzik look then?
its an absurd scenario really. and how does it sink idzik? we have VERY little invested in Geno from a financial standpoint. if he is outplayed by sanchez i dont see it as that big a deal. obviously mark's contract has to be restructured before anything else, but as long as it is and he outperforms him i really dont see the big deal. IN FACT, it would show, to me anyway, that idzik and the jets were concerned with winning, not BS like having "your guy" in there when hes not the best man for the job.
I've seen both Vik and Shaub ruled out as well,... This is all just media BS, looking for clicks until a decision is made and someone puts a name to it IMHO.
That's a load of shit. If Idzik brings back Sanchez and has a breakout season then Idzik should be given full credit for retaining him. If this is true, this isn't about Idzik vs Sanchez. It's Idzik vs Rex btw there is no source that said Sanchez will be cut. I want to see a link.
Hah, I was just scouring the webs for the source, I don't see one and I don't believe it. As I said earlier this is all just media hype to drive up clicks. It's much easier for them to put out shit articles like this then it is to do what all of the other "real" beat writers are doing which is analyzing the draft / combine. These guys don't have a clue.
