All my customers cancelled today! Looks like I'm in the clear. Not a snowplow in sight and my subdivision hasn't been touched yet. I would estimate 6" on the ground and visibility perhaps 1/4 mile. Here's some pics: This is my first snowday in years! Not sure when I'm gonna fire up the Ariens since the snow is falling waay too hard and fast to really make it worthwhile.
NWS new numbers...just extrapolate it out..cant pull north yet..but you get the point..this is busting high for many:
Remember we talked about second batch tonight..notice the lull over NJ NY up north..most importantly...this is FOR 9PM TONIGHT..future model run. Notice the snow in PA...all of that snow will pivot east northeast...and there lies the second heavy batch of snow after most will think its over. That batch could be 4 to 8 for many.
With the way that setup looks..and philly getting hammered now...Philly weather people are going to bust too...big time...philly could end up with over 18. And really feel bad for the guys that bust...I will bust with certain locations..guaranteed..but this storm is impossible..until you get to NW jersey and the poconos...Lower Hudson Valley ..even if they go to sleet..its a no brainer. The busts will be places that even turn to freezing rain and maybe even rain for a few hours..that still end up over a foot.
I haven't seen snow like this since the Blizzard of '78 when I was in college in Boston. Holy Shit!! Its coming down in buckets!!!
Those living in North Jersey...check out this radar..look at the oranges...if you think its snowing hard now..just wait another 30 minutes: radar: http://www.wunderground.com/radar/r...&lightning=0&smooth=0&showlabels=1&rainsnow=0
CMAN...the last storm that came through it was like 4am in the morning and for about an hour, I though wow...this is the hardest I have seen since 96 and 78..those bands by you..and the ones about to enter NNJ...this might just top it.
LOL. I know what you mean the addresses I have no idea why it's like that. Fair Lawn getting hammered now. Has to be at least 6 on the ground right now. Definitely going out between 12 and 1 for round 1. Gotta feeling I will be Rocky to the storms Apollo from Rocky 1.
just saw this from NWS...they are discussing the orange in that radar above...please..read this..because I have never ever seen this: .NEAR TERM /UNTIL NOON TODAY/... AS OF 9 AM...A BAND OF VERY HEAVY SNOW WITH SNOWFALL RATES OF 3 TO 6 INCHES PER HOUR HAS OVERSPREAD COASTAL PORTIONS OF THE REGION...COLLOCATED WITH AN INTENSE FRONTOGENETIC BAND LIFTING NORTH FROM CENTRAL NJ AND OFF THE OCEAN. REPORTS OF 3 TO 4 INCHES IN 30 MINUTES HAVE BEEN COMING INTO THE OFFICE UNDER THIS BAND. IN ADDITION...WIND GUSTS OF 35 TO 45 MPH ARE DEVELOPING ALONG THE COAST...RESULTING IN NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY AT TIMES.
I'm in Morris County NJ and it is coming down so hard I can barely see the houses across the street. And the wind is picking up. Praying I don't lose power. Hoping that, because I live in high elevation we don't get the change over this afternoon for very long. The good news is that it is not sticking to the tree branches, yet........
Well we usually open early but I don't have to go in till 8:30 so my work was already closed by 7:30.
That is great great news..love hearing people staying home....good stuff. Nothing worse than commuting a 20 minute drive for an hour plus? For what? Its nonsense.
we had one come by at around 6 this morning with about an inch or 2 on the ground..over 6 now...have not seen one again.
Parkway south to the 46 exit, but I turn to local roads before hitting 46. Usually parkway is the best option, they plow pretty well. Heard the pinging of sleet on the windows here a few minutes ago, but now it sounds like snow again.
