Isn't mediocre a synonym of average and visa versa?

Yeah, I believe that was the beginning of the end - I think he started getting his confidence back, but that Denver game just destroyed any momentum he had at the time. Then the disgusting Eagles game where Babin sacked him 4 times and we saw Mark laying there on the ground lifeless.

That's why I believe Mark, won't ever be a good QB - he can't take those hits anymore. He took a big hit against Pittsburgh the next year and played scared the rest of the season.

I can't find the youtube video any more--but if you recall--the FIRST DAMN PLAY of the 2011 season--the very FIRST offensive snap, Demarcus Ware blew past Hunter completely untouched and blasted Sanchez right in the sternum. In under 2 seconds.

Yeah I do remember that play, I don't know if that hit was as bad as the other ones later in the season. I have to find that one, it's online somewhere. The Ngata / Von Miller hits made me cringe a little. Brutal Hits.

Jets def tried making Mark into something he's not. He was never going to be the QB to put the team on his back for 16 games like Peyton or Tom Brady. He should have been a QB on a good team like Andy Dalton or Joe Flacco.

Sanchez is a gamer...that's why he probably didn't think twice when Rex sent him in to play in the meaningless pre-season game that ended his season.

If his head matched his heart we wouldn't be having these "should he stay or go" threads.

His redemption with the Jets may come down to dollars.

    Ironic shame...

Oh, definitley not nearly as brutal.

It just was such a prophetic occurence given how badly Hunter played that year.

    :lol::lol::lol:

To this day, I haven't seen a RT play as bad as Wayne Hunter - maybe Adrien Clarke at the LG position, he truly ruined the season. We had a slow defense but we were 8-5 before those last 3 games!

Agreed. Whatever chance he had of being anywhere near the level of a Peyton or Brady was not going to be realized under the likes of Schitty or Sparano. You can win with Dalton and Flacco, more so with Flacco than Dalton, just like it's proven you can win with Mark. I've always felt coming out and still believe now that Sanchez's ceiling is that of a slightly bigger Jeff Garcia type. That's why I thought the hiring of MM who coached Garcia bolded well for Sanchez in 2013. It was somewhat surreal for me that this past off-season Sanchez was training with the guy I thought he had a chance to become coming into the league. Note Garcia was did not get to start a NFL game until age 29. Some people want to keep going back to keep drafting QBs until we land our Peyton or Brady; I personally would be fine if we landed a Garcia type.

That is a misconception, they didn't go into 2011 thinking they'd throw the ball 60-65% of the time. They had to throw a ton when they fell behind b/c they couldn't run the ball. The team failed in 2011 then he had no help in 2012.

First of all Qb's throughout the league get hit all the time, not just MS in 2011. Sure, when a specific hit causes injury, we can point to a cause and effect. But getting hit, getting back up and getting it done is part of playing the position. Unless an injury occurs, I don't see the relevance.

We know MS suffered a season ending injury in the Giants pre-season game, of course. But I am not aware MS suffered unduly during 2011 from injury, whether from the Denver game or from some cumulative effect.

Do you have any real proof other than a video of him getting hit that he was injured on that play?

Td scores is an important metric, but it is not the only one, which unsurprisingly you cherry picked. MS in 2011 benefitted greatly from red zone play by Burress. But the completion percentage, yards per attempt, Qb rating were all below average. Add in that he went from one fumble lost in 2010 to 8 lost in 2011, and you can add that to his turnover total.

Muck has never been even an average NFL Qb. Face it.

If you guys want to act like children, why don't you go to some kid oriented message board? Posting pics like that, is that all you clowns have?

I can cut and paste funny pics, too, but really come here to talk football. Apparently you and others have a different agenda.

    bolded well. Heh!

Btw is there any evidence that Muck felt held back by Schotty? Any rumor? Any unquoted player?

Why did Rex keep bringing Schotty back? Why did Jeff Fisher hire him and keep him?

I agree Sparano was a bad OC. But that was just one season.

More excuse making by the Sanchez Fans.

Wasn't he in the CFL at the start of his career?

I seem to remember Garcia being a more accurate passer than Sanchez, but they do share certain qualities.

I don't see Sanchez bouncing around the league like Garcia though.

Ah hah so did think it was funny! Just something to break the monotony of the "oh so serious?" football talk at the onset of a looooooooooooooong off-season.

Interesting with that stance that you feel the need to constantly throw in this childishness.

    So cute, yet so ironic.

Figures you would not know the difference between me making fun of a player and one poster responding to football arguments with silly pictures. I bet you dont really think they are equivalent, but are just hurt by my calling Mr. Sanchez Muck.

    I'm not hurt about anything.

If you want to call out clownish behavior in what you were hoping to be is a reasoned discussion, look inwards, otherwise you yourself look like a clown.

I hope the irony is not lost on you.

Yes he went to the CFL after mediocre or "average"? college production. His size or lack there of also contributed to him having to start his career north of the border. Both are rhythm passers whose accuracy are predicated on footwork and timing making them best suited WCO type offense. I'd bet my house that Sanchez's "accuracy", we really mean his CMP%, would greatly improved in MM's offense. It's no coincidence that the only years that Garcia's CMP% dipped below 60% while getting significant snaps were the years he was not playing for a coach that was not a true disciple of the Bill Walsh WC system. Sanchez better make sure he plays for a WC team next year and for the rest of his career or else he will bounce around the league or worse get bounced out of it.
