We've gone from 3-6" to...4-6" according to the special weather statement on weather.com. Way to flop on the numbers, guys!

So tough up north Marshall..west of DC is an easier call with over a foot than west of Boston.

The bring problem...I have mentioned this before..is the cold source..it retreats east as the storm comes up the coast...its allowing inland areas to mix.

Is that correct? Yes..but Boston and west of Boston? Im really not sure..and tend to think west of Boston gets hammered..and boston itself is a big???

I talked about this yesterday and Im not crazy about these types of storms..but this is VERY important so when you are supposed to get 10..and then it changes to sleet and you have 5..beware. I mentioned how a few models had this huge back end snow 3/4 through and then till the end of the storm.

    Meaning...snow..heavy snow...sleet/freezing rain..even perhaps a lull..and then bam..heavy sleet..and then very heavy snow.

Again...read the above before thinking its over..because now almost every model has the same thing. And when I say ending snow..Im not talking about 1 or 2 inches..Im talking about 4 to 6 at the end.

I get it man. I'm not buying into the winter storm naming thing either. I didn't like them naming hurricanes after men when we all know the damage an angry woman can do!

Have time FINALLY lol..now..rough 48 hours so sorry for the ins and outs..but will have models posted in a few minutes.

Starting time for North Jersey and NYC around midnight..by 5am its snowing gangbusters..in fact within an hour of start..its an inch an hour snows..maybe more.

Ending time is a tough one..I promise you a few will show up and tomorrow afternoon and say thats it? Its over? Again..big snows after a lull. I would think midnight to midnight.

Cman gets started first..10PM? Then Brook...then me and all the Bergen county people...and even GD down south...then NYC...FJF...CBG...our friends in long island...jonnyd...then marshall up north around 4am.

Sorry did not put in everyones name but I know we have a bunch in bergen county and NYC and Long Island.

Im forgetting our buddy who is in the Poconos damn it...speak up!! He is going to get clobbered.

Let me grab some models and lets try to make sense of this.

Here is the write up from the NWS..now its filled with stuff that makes sense..and things that dont..but for those interested in the storm..its a great read..for some...maybe not..and its what would guide me..as an average joe..from here on. Read..ask questions..and UNDERSTAND..now tough it is to make and exact call on how much:

Forecast is banking on a strong coastal front developing...keeping areas
northwest of the feature in the snow perhaps with some sleet mix as
warming occurs aloft...and areas along the eastern coasts going to
    rain.

All areas will start as snow late tonight into Thursday morning. Main
challenge is exactly how much falls before any changeover along
the coasts. It is entirely possible that warning level snow occurs in
this initial burst right down to the beaches of southeastern Li before
changing to rain. For this reason have maintained the Winter Storm
Watch for Li and southeastern CT.

Elsewhere...have upgraded the watch to a warning. The most tenuous
areas along the CT coast southwestward through the city with the coastal front
close. In addition...a slight westward jog in the storm itself will
advect warmer air aloft and hold snow amounts down due to more
sleet. Northwest of these areas...mainly snow can be expected unless
there is a change in the ultimate track of the storm.

Any mix or rain will change back to snow Thursday night as the 500 mb low
passes over the County Warning Area and the entire column cools. Winds will begin
to peak during this time as well with the low dropping at a rate
of 15-20 mb per 6 hour. Because there is not an intense hi building
in from the west...expecting peak gusts in the 40-50 miles per hour range at this time.

The snow should taper off by sunrise Friday based on the current
    forecasts.
