Checked them yesterday Jon and all I can say is warmer...much warmer..this run is about to come to an end. I would think by next weekend, well..about 2 weeks from today, things will start to mellow out.
Seeing talk on Twitter of it being a Nor'Easter.. And numbers have been going up progressively throughout the day.. 6-12 for NYC is the current estimate
higher...start at 12...and go from there..sorry..cant post much until tonight but higher and higher. This is a biggie to say the least. The Euro wants everyone in their homes for 2 days at least.
Not sure if laying down early salt is gonna have any effect. Time to stockpile gas and batteries. Good thing my car has a built in inverter. If necessary I can run an extension cord from the garage into the house in a pinch.
Well FJF, Thursday the brunt of the storm hits and models have been hinting at a real slow mover..so the snow doesnt end to late Thursday..which could cancel some Friday stuff..hey..you get over a foot the day before..winds howling. Not to metion a strong clipper type storm comes through 24 hours later and dumps another 3 to 5...Yep...true story. Then another possible noreaster monday.
See this is why I can't have anything nice, I'm moving to LA next fall. New England winters had to give me one last fuck you. Jay, obviously I'd like to know the snow amounts, but is it light fluffy snow or heavy asshole snow.
For Boston: Weather.gov still predicting a mix rain/snow with snow Wednesday night into Thursday and later Thursday turning to rain. Weather underground also reporting a rain/snow mix for Boston too. Predicting less than inch on Thursday. Boston might escape... EDIT: Although CBS Boston is saying if it isn't rain, 6-12 inches for Boston. http://boston.cbslocal.com/2014/02/10/snow-storm-possible-thursday-for-southern-new-england/
Jay - would you mind clarifying what the models are saying as far as arrival time? I'm in the UK for work and supposed to fly back on Wed, arriving 4pm to JFK. Is that risky? There's an earlier flight that I could try to switch to that would land at noon. I'm also headed out of town for vacation Sat morning, but one issue at a time. Thanks v much in advance.
Jay You are scaring me man. I am down in Arkansas. I will try to leave here Wednesday afternoon. Any power outage?
ummmm..sorry...heavy asshole snow. Sorry Marsh. GG!! GREAT JOB WITH THE MAPS BUDDY!! As you can see, the GFS is still out to lunch on this..or is it? It is I think. I thought today it would come fully around but it will tonight. That map by them is actually a major improvement for snow lovers. The NAM? Tends to overdue a bit..but the EURO numbers are pretty close to that..if not higher in some locations. not much more to add...Starts around midnight Wednesday and ends late thursday evening and totals will be 12 to 18 unless the models continue their surge..and again..would not be surprised if there is a strip of 18 to 24 inside of all of that. Will be on tomorrow..perhaps later tonight..have a family function this evening.
Wind related..maybe..I mean tough call brook because of everything that is still on roofs etc..this storm is a major...major problem with all the snow on the ground here.
Wednesday at 4pm right now looks fine. But keep in touch...but it looks fine. Saturday is a smaller storm but lets see what that looks like after this one.
