Sorry CBG...I dont know who it is..tried the site but had to join maybe? I really didnt dig to deep. One other person who will remain nameless if thats ok wrote this nonsense: I AM STARTING TO THINK THE MODELS JUST MESSED UP THE TIMING FOR OUR BLIZZARD THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN TODAY AND TOMORROW. IT PICKED THE WRONG DISTURBANCE!!! As you can see, I would never to that to you guys. Trying to explain his call for this huge storm was because the models got confused with a storm 4 days later? The models can be off by 24 to 48 hours...but this? This is more funny than anything.
Thanks a lot DW...That means alot. Thats the goal because if not.. I would be talking to myself..lol. Thanks.
Jay,,thanks for all the answers and info,,,,you are the best ,,,,I am kinda hoping we dont get much tonite,,wife has surgery Monday,,,,,but not snowing hard here,,in fact it just started,,,,keep us posted buddy
Jay I will be flying to Arkansas on Monday and be back on Thursday. Looks like I might be stuck down south. I will try to change my return to Wednesday night if you can tell me this is going to happen on Thursday for sure. Thanks as always.
Seriously, thank you. I could listen to the talking heads on TV yapping the day of or before an event, but knowing the how and why it may or may not happen in advance is really cool, and very reassuring. Not dumbing t down, but explaining it is very refreshing. Thanks again
Hey Brook my man, Hmmm...thats a rough spot right now. Flying out on Wednesday night is a real ? depending on the time of the storm starting. Let me check really good tonight on timing but Thursday looks like...looks like a big problem right now. A very early guess would be if you can get out like right after your Wednesday meetings wrap up....like between 5 and 7 flight? That would be great. Again...real early here so lets see what happens tonight.
FM and DW...i put you guys and your locations on my list..I think I left you off last time..sorry about that...and again thanks very much. While I appreciate the nice words, this is also a major vent for me. So, helping you guys out, if I am, helps me venting too..lol. Thats always been one of the goals FM. When you start to read this stuff, you can start to tell who on T.V. is dumbing it down for the general public and not really giving them the real information..just the quick stuff. Trust me, I get really pissed off when the have the L for a storm in the wrong spot. Its insulting...lol..to have the L over New Jersey when its 100 miles off the coast. Having the L in real life over N.J. would be saying it has to be rain. News 12 IS ALWAYS guilty of having the improper track of a storm or the L's in the wrong spot. Drives this loser nuts. Can only watch so much womans hockey so checking models now for deeper stuff..temps and timing. Be back in a few.
Oh..Beatles fans...today is the 50th Anniversary of them being on the Ed Sullivan show. I think its either channel 2 or 7 that will show it in its entirety and will also have performances from some greats doing Beatles songs..and also a reunion with McCartney and Ringo. Huge fan here...you younger guys might enjoy the history of something that will probably never happen again.
Brook, Just read the NWS write up on the storm and they have its starting after 8pm...so if I were you, I would really try hard to lock in that exit time...between 5 and 7 exit.
For the snow haters..here is some good news and bad news and the first time I can officially report it. If you guys remember, I mentioned that once this run of storms was all over, we might get a nice huge break. Here is the future: Storm on Wednesday night/ Thursday Smaller disturbance but perhaps more than tonight for Friday night/Saturday Sunday: Perhaps another noreaster..big storm. Then...maybe...maybe one more middle week and thats it...temps fly into the 50s and generally drier conditions. I will say this, my wife and I were driving around today and she made the great comment that if we do get a storm..a big storm on Wednesday/Thursday...where do you put the snow? The plowing people..because this has frozen so solid...cant make those corrections they do in between storms. The roads are more narrow than usual...and a buddy of mine who does that kind of work was telling me that their blades are so screwed up, they cant afford to go back out there and fix whats wrong. This storm will make things horrible for big malls with huge parking lots and small ones with even less room. This is going to be a problem for many businesses because plow guys cant fix whats wrong.
and with some downtime, some of the biggest storms of all time.. Of course, my favorite of all time..the blizzard of 96 While this is great, it has some of the accum off. Parts N.J from central N.J. near Elizabeth and Newark received over 30..but you get the drift.0 Also, check out once it hit Conn, not much north..it spun itself to death off the coast of N.J. Never moved...just died out.
wow, i touched a nerve lol. thats why we follow you jay, levelheaded info with no shock value. gonna watch walking dead and than eagerly await your report
lolololo...no on...FJF..you did good bud. I know there are many out there doing it..that might have been me 30 years ago if there were an internet..every storm was the storm of century back then!
Jay, thanks for the great info. It's greatly apprceiated. Just a quick update from Bergen County: McCartney is doing Sgt Pepper's on Channel 2, and we have a light flurry, with maybe an inch on the ground. Not enough to head out with the shovel for. Thanks for the Lesbian weather chick reference, too. Warms the cockles (whatever they are!) Here comes Ringo . . .
I remember the storm of 96 very well. Couple feet of snow. weather.com said less than an inch of snow tonight. They have already reported 2 inches. Jerks. The street is pretty clear and they don't salt them down in front of my apartment so I assume there will be no delays for work tomorrow.
RP..NOW WAIT A MINUTE....did i call her a lesbian? No..lol..a hot babe..your friggin mind is taking over!! very funny. Ok..that Beatles special...man...those were the days. ok...STORM WATCH. I know the NWS would never do it this early but here goes. Winter Storm Watch by me for Wednesday night and Thursday for a very very signigicant snowstorm that will make all storms this winter seem like flurries for most. Looks like the air will be cold enough for snow for all. Just finishing the GFS run which should agree with all the other runs..stormed already phased..let me just check the final two frames.
and although it phases the storm the storm never tilts negative until its out to sea and guess what..who cares. That is a major change for the GFS and by tomorrows run at 1030 am, it will be on board. We have our first major noreaster ...MILLER A STORM to track this year. Now Im not downplaying the other storms and some might have had a storm that has dropped more snow this year...but this is a true noreaster. Very impressive and now we see if the track continues to take hold. You will hear weather guys talk about the BENCHMARK. That is the 40/70 lat/long that you want a storm center to cross over for all snow for the most part. This storm may actually pass just inside that mark but it doesnt make a difference. Very strong and perhaps maybe eastern L.I. gets mixing. Again, we go by models but this is the first time this year....within 90 hours...we have this much model agreement and by tomorrow morning we will have 100 percent agreement. Will post the NAM numbers..now the only area that is not in play right no is the JERSEY SHORE..but I think these numbers will shift south. Post a map in a few minutes.
