If the Ravens let Pitta go to a team willing to give him only a 2 year deal you're probably right. The question is whether the Ravens are going to let him leave on that kind of deal.
True. I have no idea what the Ravens' cap looks like or how many FAs. They have. The Jets might be able to offer him more money than the Ravens can. Pitta could still opt to sign with the Ravens for less to finish out his career with them, but I think it's worthwhile for the Jets to find out.
Im surprised to read Pitta is 29, are you sure about that? Wasn't he drafted about 3-4 yrs ago or so? EDIT: Ok just looked it up, didnt know he went on a Mormon mission which put off football for a few years... makes sense I forgot he attended BYU
That means he's a young 29 who hasn't taken the hits a typical 29 year old would have. With that said, I'd rather we see what we can do in the draft. He has never been great, has had injuries, and would probably get agood deal on the open market. There's better than pitta to be found. Let's just hope we can find it. I wouldn't be upset about signing him though.
Great vid and he is Santonio 2.0! Woww Benjamin is such a beast! Then take Robinson-Mathews-Abbrederis in the 2nd round.
Marqise Lee is a better prospect than Holmes was coming out of school. He's more like Jeremy Maclin than Holmes. He carried a real load in college and was clearly the best receiver on his team, even with Robert Woods there. Holmes was considered to be one of two good receivers at Ohio State along with Tedd Ginn Jr and defenses were more concerned with making sure Ginn didn't go over the top than covering Holmes tight underneath. Even with that he wasn't a dominant receiver just one of two good receivers getting pretty even distribution of the ball.
To all the haters out there that don't like Benjamin! Numbers and metrics dont lie!!!! The proof is there!!! He is the best deep threat in the draft and can't be stopped on Go routes!!! Oh and where was Beckham in the pole? Right... Not in the same class
Rockinz Representin'!!! Who said they hated Benjamin? Fwiw, Beckham Jr. (with his biig mitts) is not a 'body catcher' like this video shows Lee to be. You may not get the "love" for Beckham (all well and good) but on the flip side, I don't get the "hate" for the guy either.
Does his mediocre performance in the National Championship sway anyone? He had a huge TD, but didn't have a great game.
I'll go on record and say I don't want Benjamin. Anyone can be stopped on go routes if you know what's coming. If that's what he's got to offer, enjoy being a #4 or #5 in the NFL.
He came up big when it mattered most... Seems to be consistent that way. I love clutch players. Especially when they can have an off game and then BOOM torch you for the winner!
Well he also dominated the other WRs on post and corner routes too as the graph showed. So no thats not all he has to offer... He is just elite at Go routes and great at corner/post routes.
Where are you getting elite or great from? That's just the routes he was utilized on. That doesn't mean anything. I'm not convinced he'll be able to just run straight and go up against NFL DB's with his game. I don't see the talent. I'll pass for better route runners and better students of the game. I thought I remembered hearing that he hasn't seemed all that interested in refining his skills even. If true, no thanks.
Just refer to the OP link to see where im getting great and elite from. When i mean elite/great it's in comparison to his other 3 peers. Also this WR class is touted to be one of the best in a long time... If thats his attitude... Thats not good... BUT all i have seen is his will to get better every year on paper... He tripled his stats (TDs, yards)from his rookie year to softmore year, so there must be a desire to learn and get better.
http://secondroundstats.com/?p=529 Beckham has a higher percentage of catches past 10 yards, higher YPC and lower drop rate and a better distribution of routes run. Yes, Beckham is a phenomenal deep threat. As Ive said, he's a bigger Steve Smith. And no one hates Benjamin.
I'm feeling like if Ebron is gone (which he likely will be) it makes sense to trade back a few spots and take either Beckham or Matthews. I kind of lean towards Beckham because of his ability to contribute on special teams.
Thanks for that link! No doubt Beckham is good just not as good as Benjamin. He should have a higher YPC for his size and speed! The pass past 10 yards is odd because Benjamin has better numbers than Watkins and Evans in this category and nearly even with Lee. The deep ball Evans and Benjamin are the best in the draft. Drops are a bit of an issue with Benjamin and this is somethig he will need to perfect to be a legit 1 in the NFL.
