Pete loves Sanchez, no doubt about it. Jets def need to do their justice in finding a veteran QB, if they do not find a QB they like, cut and resign Sanchez to a friendly contract. Maybe you give him incentives, if he wins the starting job or something of that nature. I would act on this quickly, this should in a way be the first thing the Jets address in the off-season. Imagine cutting Mark, not finding a vet QB and then Mark signs with another team, we are then screwed. I hope people aren't thinking Mark will wait on us, because he "owes us" or he "wants to play here" Money talks, bullshit walks
Then I just don't get your point of bringing up Tony Romo's last game of 2009 into the discussion? We were talking about replacing Sanchez with these QBs and you bring up 2009. There is no point to mentioned Dallas scored 3 points in the last game of the 2009 season unless you are implying Sanchez would have done better. See Junc, I didn't take you literally and I was wrong Why else would you bring it up? Oh now we are talking about defense? This started as replace the offensive weapons and if they are more talented offensively. Your first post that started this was Sanchez getting the offensive talent these guys had would lead to more wins. That isn't true. The defense is debatable too, they have been basically equal with the Jets having a very slight edge overall over BAL in Sanchez's 4 healthy years. Have you watched other wide receivers? So we are talking Cruz, Nicks, Randle in 2013? I don't see how they are close to top 5 let alone easily top 10 talent in 2013. Cruz is the best, yet he doesn't break into the upper echelon of Fitzgerald, Marshall, Calvin, Gordon, V.Jackson etc. So that alone puts teams with a true #1 ahead of the Giants. The value of that type of receiver (especially Gordon and VJackson who didn't have QBs), I think you are missing. Add onto the fact Nicks was a weak #2 receiver this year, I just don't see what you are seeing. Now maybe you are arguing the WR are better than they looked this year but Eli brought them down? Then I have to bring up HOU, MIN, TB who had good WR limited by the QB too. I just don't see it. Hands down, if the Jets could have switched, I would have taken these ahead of the Giants group of receivers: DEN, HOU, CIN, PIT, DAL, CHI, GB, DET, NO, ATL, ARZ. That's 11. I then would heavily consider PHI, TB, MIN, CLE, MIA, TEN over NYG, it's just harder to judge because of the explosive offense or lack of QB these 4 teams had so I wouldn't say hands down. I would say I'd easily take 3 of those over NYG but you could argue NYG into the 15/16 spot and that would be okay with me. If we then include RB and TE who routinely lineup as WRs or catch passes, then I would also throw in SD and KC slightly ahead of NYG. This is a weird argument. You are trying to prop up a group of receivers who everyone agreed had a down year and trying to prop them up to prove a point. The talent wasn't there for Eli this year. Part of it his fault, part of it Nicks' regression from his one really good year. He would open up that offense more if he played better, but he didn't.
He might not go there with that goal, but thats exactly what he is going to be there. He'd have no shot of starting over Wilson.
Nacho has just as much of a chance of overtaking Wilson as he would going to Denver and overtaking Peyton. Sorry Sanchez fans.
If he signs there he has no other choice. Pete Carroll isn't about to have an open competition for the job. Btw I don't even know if you're trolling me or you're serious.
Trolling obviously. I love Sanchez but I love Wilson to and Carrol would be insane to make a switch like that, regardless of who's better. Even if Tom Brady walked into Seattle I think at this point you would go with Russel because of youth and because no NFL QB could be doing any better than what Wilson is doing anyway.
I'm telling you guys... Sanchez has improved immeasurably by NOT playing this year. The downhill slide has not only ended, but now he's rumored to get traded to the current NFC Champs to take over the starting job for their beleaguered quarterback. Now granted, Russell Wilson is ranked 6th in league passing rating, but let's not forget who the Seahawks coach is. That's right...Pete Carroll...Mark's college coach! And, get this, he's a former NY Jet head coach! Who better to know what Sanchez brings to his current team. Dollars to doughnuts he was the "unnamed" NFL coach that stated that "Sanchez would be a starter as soon as he walked in the door for us." This reeks of the brilliant move Harbaugh made in swapping Alex Smith for Colin Kapernick. Once the Seahawks play out their current season, I'm sure we'll see a lot of movement on this front. Could Percy Harvin be in play? He sure would solve some of our receiver issues and he could be the playmaker we lack currently. Anyway, this is all hush-hush and on the DL right now...but you heard it here first.
Makes about as much sense as claiming that Sanchez would have easily taken the Cowboys to a Super Bowl victory.
When people stop posting that the earth is flat, I will stop refuting that idiocy with the fact that the earth is round. It's not an opinion. When Pete Carroll signs Muck, instead of blowing smoke up his former player's ass, then we can talk about his lack of understanding of football. Absolutely correct. You cannot divide by 0.
The people that continually say they want Mark gone and especially the one that that calls Mark "Muck" have about as much football knowledge as my sock. The funny part is when pressed on their background is I was not a fan back then or did not start following the jets until recently. No shit with the great analysis. You guys attack Junc and I admit he goes overboard on occasion but he at least demonstrates some football acuman. He just goes overboard in trying to win a debate. Mark should be on the roster if he restructures or until we get someone better. If you watched Geno this season and say we are set at QB there is just no comment to be made. Jets the QB with most playoff wins in team history should stay and compete for a cap friendly deal. It is his second season with MM offense and Geno played his best when Mark was around. If Geno sucks again or Mark beats him out we will know he has made that next step. Not really a hard decision. Anybody but Mark is the no rational view.
