Tough to estimate a Japanese converts stats, but he's projected to step in as a #2 or 3 starter. You're right that he's not on a Darvish level, mostly because Darvish has elite stuff and K ability, however He can be wild at times and Tanaka has great control. Throws a mid 90s fastball, splitter as an above average strikeout pitch, and a decent slider.
Rachel Nichols @Rachel__Nichols 4m Arbiter rules Alex Rodriguez to serve a 162-game suspension. A reduction from MLB decision, but still a full season.
Son of a bitch, what did he do to deserve this? where is the evidence that makes him worse than any other guy?
Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 11m the 162 game penalty is a major victory for mlb, as it is 112 more than the usual 50 for 1st time offense. #arod Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 7m the 162-game call on a-rod helps yankees in their luxury-tax endeavor (and potentially tanaka) Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 5m it's 162 plus playoffs. a-rod will NOT be eligible for the postseason. Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 4m the full explanation/paperwork of horowitz will not be made public. that is, unless a-rod takes it to court, of course. Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 1m arod statement: "the number of games sadly comes as no surprise, as the deck has been stacked against me from day one."

lol talk about bringing out the heavy artiliery. He's taking this sucker to the Supreme Court if he can.
Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN 26s It was A-Rod's first offense and he is now banned for a full season. Complete victory for MLB, in spite of the suspension reduction.
This ESPN bias is a complete disgrace, I just shut the TV off. These guys are throwing a party over at ESPN.
it's ridiculous that a team can get salary cap relief from an awful contract because of a steroid suspension. they signed the guy knowing he had a steroid history, they should have to pay for that decision, whether or not he plays or gets paid this year.
What's also interesting was this was ARODs first offense, but he got way more than 50. Not really sure if AROD can win, but he's still stating the garbage the MLB has is garbage. I will say this, last year I was rooting for AROD to get suspended during the year and what not, but the way MLB handled this I'm partially sympathetic towards AROD. The evidence that has leaked seems suspect at best against AROD.
http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/sto...ez-sues-mlb-union-seeking-reversal-suspension The thing is that the MLB court isn't a real court. They can do whatever they want. A similar problem was when Roger was leading the charge against the Saints. He was the judge and the only person the Saints could go appeal to was Roger.
Hopefully A-Rod just fucks off. Can't stand that piece of garbage. I heard Tanaka's wife prefers a west coast team. Not looking good on that front. What's plan B if we don't land Tanaka? Right now we have: CC Kuroda Nova Pineda? ?
