I always see people discuss the possibility of signing Decker/Tate, I'm curious, what's the situation with these guys? Are they UFAs? And what's the likelihood their teams franchise them if they can't agree on a contract?

And we'd probably have to massively overpay these guys to come to the jets. I can see Denver letting Decker go because of their surplus at receiver, but can Seattle really afford to let Tate go?

Hoping somebody can clue me in because we need receiver help but i haven't done any research into these matters

Most of these posts are heavy in big FA signings which is funny because Idzik said he will build our team through the draft.

Idzik has shown good insight in bringing in stop-gap FAs on the cheap (Colon, Nelson). I just don't see him building the team in chunks via high priced FAs.

I don't think Idzik will be in a hurry to spend all of his $30-$40-$50M cap space on FAs. Idzik would rather take care of his own home grown talent. Mo this year, Coples next year, Harrison the year after, and so on.

I think 98% of our new players next season will come from the 2014 draft.

Marqise Lee in the first round, Hakeem Nicks FA.

I would hit the roof if we landed this.

This draft is very deep at WR and I don't think Lee or Watkins will be there at 18. I sure as hell don't want Mike Evans. Dude has bust written all over him. Mediocre route running, poor separation skills. His height worked in college but won't work in the NFL. Would be better to get a guy in the second or third.

I think the Jets will go BPA in the draft which could very well end up being another defensive player in the first. In the second or third round I really want Deanthony Thomas from Oregon. Surprised I haven't heard his name much here. He can be dynamic as a kick and punt returner as well as a slot receiver. He can score on his own which is something the Jets sorely need. The offense won't be consistently good after one offseason, only hope is to generate big plays here and there.

Would like to see the Jets get a cheap FA WR. I'm highest on Emmanuelle Sanders, very underrated as well as Golden Tate but I don't see him leaving Seattle. Other than that, would be over the moon if the Jets got Jairus Byrd. Best coverage safety in the league but only if it's no more than $10 mil a year.

I don't know if this is true, but supposedly Denver has a ton of cap space already tied up in receivers and TEs with Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, Andre Caldwell, Jacob Tamme, Trindon Holliday, et al. They also have a ton of FAs, including on offense Decker and Caldwell, their starting LG, and two key backups; and on defense their entire starting secondary, MLB and RDE. Starters are bolded and top backups are in italics.

    Mike Adams, Safety (UFA)
    Robert Ayers, Defensive End (UFA)
    Zane Beadles, Offensive Guard (UFA)
    Justin Boren, Offensive Lineman (ERFA)
    Stewart Bradley, Linebacker (UFA)
    Andre Caldwell, Wide Receiver (UFA)
    Tony Carter, Cornerback (RFA)
    Eric Decker, Wide Receiver (UFA)
    Chris Harris, Cornerback (RFA)
    Trindon Holliday, Return Specialist (ERFA)
    Duke Ihenacho, Safety (ERFA)
    Quintin Jammer, Cornerback (UFA)
    Winston Justice, Offensive Tackle (UFA)
    Dan Koppen, Center (UFA)
    Chris Kuper, Guard (UFA)
    Paris Lenon, Linebacker (UFA)
    Greg Orton, Wide Receiver (ERFA)
    Shaun Phillips, Defensive End (UFA)
    Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Cornerback (UFA)
    Mitch Unrein, Defensive Tackle (RFA)
    Steve Vallos, Center (UFA)
    Wesley Woodyard, Linebacker (UFA)

I'd say there's a good chance Decker will sign elsewhere, or they're gonna have to lose a lot of other starters and backups.

The Seahawks also have a ton of FAs. Following is the list. Starters are bolded and top backups are in italics.

    Tarvaris Jackson, QB
    Golden Tate, WR
    Doug Baldwin, WR
    Kellen Davis, TE
    Anthony McCoy, TE
    Breno Giacomini, RT
    Paul McQuistan, OT
    Jason Spitz, OT
    Lemuel Jeanpierre, C
    Michael Bennett, DE
    Clinton McDonald, DE
    Tony McDaniel, DT
    O’Brien Schofield, OLB
    Michael Morgan, OLB
    Brandon Browner, CB
    Walter Thurmond, CB
    Chris Maragos, FS
    Jeron Johnson, S
    Steven Hauschka, K

They have quite a few starters and top backups that are FAs as well. I doubt they'll be able to keep everyone.

That's because the OP asked for our dream offseason, rather than what we thought Idzik would do. Big difference.

    Sign

Sign Dan Orlovsky or Derek Anderson. I'm not too sure yet what backup quarterback but it should be someone who can run an NFL offense, obviously a bit of cometition. Stopgap who can if needed, but Geno should get the nod.

    - Golden Tate
    - Zane Beadles/Jon Asamoa (dream, but I doubt they let him go. Jets should go after a big time guard it's so much more proven than the draft)
    - Robert Ayers (big body to rotate in at outside linebacker)

    Cut:
    WR Santonio Holmes
    Mark Sanchez

    Extend:
    DL Mo Wilkerson
    WR Jeremy Kerley

    Resign:
    - LB Calvin Pace
    - DL Leger Douzable
    - K Nick Folk
    - OG Willie Colon
    - TE Jeff Cumberland (as the #2)
    - CB Darrin Walls
    - CB Ellis Lankster
    - LB Garrett McIntyre

    Draft:
    1) TE Austin Sefarian-Jenkings

-Big receiving tightends help young quarterbacks so much. This guy is worth the hype, very good speed for a 6'6" 260 lbs. guy with good hands.

    2) WR Jordan Matthews
    - If he falls, Matthews has been a very nice receiver at Vandy. I have a feeling he might go in the first round, maybe to New England.

    3a) S Ty Zimmerman
    - four year starter, smart player

    3b) DE/OLB Michael Sam
    - gotta take chances at pass rushers since we can't afford to draft one earlier.

    4) OT/OG Andrew Norwell
    -depth/competition

    5) RB De'Anthony Thomas
    - You get a really good kick returner and a fast gadget player (not wildcat) to throw quick screens to. Could get snapped in half at the NFL level.

    6) ILB Caleb Lavey
    - pass coverage LB to help our 3rd down D.

    7) WR Matt Miller
    - might as well gamble on another receiver.

You need to buld through the draft but with so much cap space at least adding a really good guard is necessary. Getting a free agent receiver at the right price is a pipe dream but Golden Tate at the right price would be awesome. He's about the only one I would want if he doesn't get tagged or want ridiculous money.

Nelson/Matthews on the outside, Kerley in the slot and Jenkings at tightend would be great. Golden Tate would make Nelson the key 3rd down guy. Highly doubt we get Tate though.

Thanks for this list. Didn't realize how many of the Hawks were becoming available this season. Ever since the Hawks made me some scratch in 08, I've been following them. They're a very interesting franchise.

Having listened to most of their games over the past two years, it's apparent that if Baldwin becomes available for a reasonable figure, he should definitely be a target for Idzik. More often than not, he's the guy who gets free and bails Wilson out. Certainly, he's not the flashiest guy in the NFL, but he's a football player.

If you had a dream that Idzik moved up 2 spots and used his 1st round pic on defense, who would you want it to be?

My Dolphin fan friends all come to me saying that they are coming over from the dark side and becoming Jet fans and they beg me to not make fun of them for being Dolphin fans for so long.

Also, Patriot fans start regularly calling sports talk shows and admitting that they are the dumbest, most arrogant fans that have ever existed in human history and that Belicheck is a mediocre coach at best without Brady. Also, they admit that Brady is a big crybaby.

Good job. I basically like your choices a lot, but have a few quibbles/question. Orlovsky at QB? I think Hill or McCown are far superior QBs to Orlovsky. Anderson I'd like a lot, but doubt the Panthers let him go.

I like Seferian-Jenkins and Matthews a lot individually, but don't think I'd like them as a 1-2 in the draft. Both are tall receivers which is good, but neither are that fast. Did you choose this way thinking that Lee, Evans, Ebron, & Amaro would all be gone, or do you like Sefarian-Jenkins and Matthews better? There are also quite a few WRs who, while smaller in stature, are very good and are faster. I'm just curious for your thoughts on why this is your dream draft.

Who does Caleb Lavey play for? I had never heard of him, but I really, really like the idea of adding an ILB who excels in coverage. I also like adding the FS and OLB.

Since you didn't add a QB, is it safe to assume that you think Geno will develop, or do you see Orlovsky/Anderson beating him out and being the starter? If the latter, do you see Geno developing into being the starter by 2015, or do you think the team needs to draft a new QB at that point?

Either Ha Ha Clinton Dix or the Mack kid (LB) from Buffalo. I'm torn between the two. Still, that dream would be a nightmare. I'd much rather, and think the smarter thing would be to address offense first, then add a FS and/or OLB in the middle-to-lower rounds.

An important element of my dream offseason would involve Tom Brady announcing that he's spending his offseason training in Japan with sumo wrestlers, eating chanko nabe, and putting on 200 lbs.
