Johnny Football is Doug Flutie 2.0

    not worth moving up for

Also i'm almost positive we would have to move to #2 to get him and that's a heavy price to pay... He is destine for the Browns IMO

Here, here...could not agree with you more. I would not trade up for any QB on this draft period. There is no A. Luck or anyone even close to him on this draft. We have way too many holes to fill to squander draft choices at this stage. When will we ever learn.

Probably Browns but if not definitely doesn't make it past both Oakland and the Vikings (maybe moreso Vikings).

    It depends:

-if you think he is a franchise QB
-how far we'd have to move up
-how much it would cost to move up

I dont think he is a franchise qb, but i can see why others would
I'm not sure what his draft stock is. top 5? top 10?

if you think he is a franchise qb, and can get him for #18 and #68 or something like that then id go for it. but im not trading this years first and a future first.

Agreed with both these posts. If Idzik, Marty, Rex, and Woody all think that Manziel is the franchise QB, it would be a mistake not to draft him.

That being said, at this point, I'm not sold -- not sure how well his game would translate to the NFL. Honestly, I hope it will be as entertaining to watch Manziel on Sundays as it's been on Saturdays. I wouldn't put a '15 first round pick on it happening, but I'm no expert.

It's too much to pay for too little to gain, and it has nothing to do with Manziel's skills. How many rookie quarterbacks can the Jets afford to set up for failure by not improving the receivers and offensive line? I hope this is the end of the line.

Honestly, I think its the completely wrong move to trade up for Manziel. I think we should stick with Geno.

I'd be so pumped if we did it though. Guy makes plays and he is definitely a QB I can root for.

Why would you be pumped? You just said that you think that it would be the completely wrong move and that we should stick with Geno. If we traded up, then we wouldn't be able to add ANY of the top WRs or TEs in the draft. We might be able to add a Pitta and a Maclin in FA, but then again, Idzik might decide that in order to max protect Manziel that he had to sign 2-3 FA OL.

I can understand the excitement and potential that Manziel would bring, but you wouldn't be at all distressed or concerned that Idzik did it when you know that it would be the wrong move, and that he really wouldn't have a big upgrade in the weapons that he'd be working with? In all reality, in that scenario, Manziel would probably try to take off and run a lot as he did vs Duke in the bowl game, and he'd wind up getting injured and out for the season early and maybe even suffer a career-ending injury.

If the Jets had one of the top 2-3 OLs in the game, and stud playmakers at WR, TE and RB positions and only missing the QB to get them to the SB, then that would be a good move; otherwise, it would be nuts imo.

    This!!!!

There is a reason the Browns suck year in and year out and begins with terrible drafting at the QB position.

Much rather picking up Fales in the 3rd, developing him on the sideline while Geno plays with better weapons to see if he's got it.

If he doesn't got it, we have a super accurate QB who has learned the system and has hopefully improved his arm over the course of a year or two on the bench.

Fales skills translate to the NFL very well.

Meanwhile use our 1st and 2nd picks on a WR and TE.

Jet management knows that Geno is likely not a franchise QB, and will be taking a QB in the first 3 rounds of the draft as a fallback option.

Better to get offensive weapons through free agency and later rounds anyway, as the WR draft class will be deep and there are great alternatives like Maclin etc.

screw that... we dont need to develop someone and its not happening on this team with rex as coach and with the horrific offensive cast we have.

if a legit walkin franchise qb isnt there, then go elsewhere. in a year or two when the offense has some stability, then you go get a guy
