Rex was coaching for his job today, and I think he made a great case for himself. As long as the team has a respectable game in Miami next week, I don't see how you could fire him.
Just as a sidebar but an important one. A key play in the game was a tackle on STs during a run back by Saalim Hakim. The Browns return guy had a good angle and was running well and past the other Jets STers but Hakim with his speed caught up to him and made a great tackle. He was a non factor the rest of the game but for that tackle alone he earned his roster spot.
The problem with that is, once you use the "I'm gonna get fired if we don't win" angle, what do you have left to use? You can't ride that horse but for so many times before it becomes background noise. As a motivational tactic, obviously it worked.
