For 44 years of losing. For the majority on this board who do not have 20 years or so on this planet just realize that 44 years of losing would be 1/2 the time you have more/less been on this earth. Yes 44 years & for all your young ones or from the green sunglass & Koolaid crowd just remember you to could go thru your entire life time & never see the NYJs win a SB
I have been watching for over 20 years now and it has been rough. I truly respect the older diehard fans. No way this has been easy for any of us.
the last 15 years or so have not been rough overall, sure we've had rough moments but we have made 3 title games and 7 playoff apps. Rought would be older fans who made it through the 70s where we didn't make a single playoff app or those of us who lived through the late 80s to late 90s pre Parcells who saw 1 playoff app(at 8-8) and 1-15, 3-13, 4-12, etc...
Yeah, but I became a fan and instantly had to go through the 3-13 and 1-15 seasons, so you could say I was baptized under fire.
you got those out of the way quickly though and since '97 we have usually either been a playoff team or close to the playoffs. This year marks the first time since 1995-1997 that we missed the playoffs 3 straight years.
It's now 45 and counting: 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86 , 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12 & 13... I need to change my screen name You need to update your signature
I know I was a kid, but I enjoyed those 3-13 years and 1-15 years more than the last couple of seasons. Was I just a kid or was the team more likeable back then?
I was around 20 and those years were brutal, the 2 worst seasons I have seen and I went to every home game so it was miserable there.
My earliest memories of watching the Jets were in the early 90s, but I don't really remember as much since I was so young. I remember the Bruce Coslet and Pete Carroll days decently well. However, my earliest memories of really remembering what was going on were those seasons that you mention.
Yeah, thought so. I was a big Boomer fan as a kid too and I don't think the rest of the Jets fanbase shared that view. Yeah, that is the exact same as me.
Champ definitely update your sig: RR is 0-5 now. My one Jet game that I went to was in December 1969 when I was 11. It was so damb cold at Shea and the seats were covered in ice and snow. My Dad and Uncle were diehard fans and went ot SB III in Miami. I still remember the beer and stuff flying and the cursing the year before when Heidi came on the old B&W TV. My Uncle went outside to catch the rest of the game on AM radio in his car. Times have changed but I still have the green virus.
Champ, you forgot to thank Woody for the State of the Art, breathtaking and colorful, shiny new stadium in the swamp. Damn Ingrate!!
I liked Boomer but he was a star QB for the Bengals who came here at the end of his career since he was a local guy and wanted to play close to home. That's probably why most fans a little older than yourself never really were all that into him because he's most identifiable as a Bengal. I was at most of those games in '93 and '94 and those were just awful teams.
