    Nah, watch this...

    Player-coach Mark Sanchez?

He has more playoff wins than Weeb Ewbank.

I get your point but SD never made a title game w/ Marty- they just kept making the playoffs.

If we had wanted Cowher we would have hired Khan instead of Idzik as GM.

If Idzik is a given, than it would be Tony Dungy that he was buddies with in TB that I'd look at.

Papa Gruden got Idzik fired in TB so that would not work ...

Gruden would be my first choice, but aside from what you say he seems ensconced at MNF.

A former NFL HC who would not have previously gotten a mention by me right now would be Jack del Rio. I know they lost that game to NE, but that was a tough one, and for the most part del Rio has handled Fox's absence quite well. He's in the media spotlight and has not F'd up. His record at Jville admittedly was not stellar, but the team was in shambles when he took over, and he did get them to the playoffs during his tenure.

Perhaps the most interesting thing to me after his current success in Denver is the way he changed out the established but underperforming Leftwich for David Garrard, and reaped big dividends from that. del Rio was fired in 2011 by Jville, but of course he had lost Garrard early that season due to injuries.

del Rio has held a number of coaching positions in addition to HC, obviously, and was the DC before he was HC, as he is now. Still he shows a track record of working with the O, and the way he handled Qb's at Jville I think was to his credit in a way that Ryan cannot claim.

And since he's presently a DC, the rules would permit the Jets to offer him an HC job, right?

    So there's a possibility.

I just want to win, I don't care if Shula comes back to coach us and wins a SB. I know we could win w/ Mark which is why I like him so much.

Del Rio is a good coach that was stuck with bad play at QB just like Rex. I don't think he's a fit here but for the right team with an adequate offense he's a good choice.

I want nothing to do with John Gruden. Memories are short I guess, the guy chewed up and spit out QB's faster than Parcells did kickers. He can't develop a QB via the draft while playing a vet.

The more I think about it I like the Kubiak thought. Given what he has at QB and what he's lost on defense coupled with all the injuries at key positions I think he's done a pretty good job. The issue is can he develop a QB. I know he'd be a really good fit with an established QB, better than Del Rio.

The Seattle OC has worked well with Russell Wilson but look what happened with Tavaris Jackson, he's had two stints with him and couldn't develop him. Who's to say its his coaching that made Wilson bloom? Maybe its just that he got lucky and Wilson fell into his lap. Proceed with caution.. not sold on him.

I hate Kubiak, he has had a ton of talent to work with and hasn't even gotten to a title game. No way on Kubiak, I don't want any retreads if we fire Rex but if we had to have one I definitely don't want Kubiak.

Just say NO to Sanchez! Lets go after Cutler or Rivers. They are real QBs unlike Sanchez. If we are going to upgrade the team why mess around with the original Turnover Machine?

I strongly disagree with you about Sanchez. Unlike some here I will say that I will support whoever the Jets QB is even though I do not care for Mark's demeanor. It makes no difference to me which QB takes us to the Super Bowl and wins it. IMO Sanchez could never do it because he is so skittish in the pocket. Hit him hard and the game is over. You forget the 52 turnovers in the past two years yet you want to point out Geno's miscues. I doubt Mark would look any better behind this OL and with these receivers then Geno or Simms. In fact I think he'd look even worse because he has so much more experience then either Geno or Matt and he just throws dump off passes most of the time..

Great defensive guy... but also the most unaccountable HC in the NFL.

Wasting space is better than continually harping about a player that's gone for the season.

I would probably look at Greg Roman and Jay Gruden first
