I completely agree which is why I said it, with the new rookie scale and if Simms plays the next few games and plays well Geno could very well be gone next year.

    And let's build around Geno?

    That's rational.

There are 8-9 QBs potentially coming out better than Geno.

Lol you're not even getting what I said. You're so worried about bashing Geno.

Just so you know I absolutely hated Sanchez coming out of College and his own coach said he wasn't ready. Your reading too far into my post just message me if you want to know how I feel.

Don't bother, you are arguing with an irrational Geno apologist.

No im not. Im saying is I want the right qb in the draft or if it's a project I say sign a vet. Unless its a qb who you know can start from day one I don't want to force it. I don't care where they come from. Thats what I'm saying.

And fyi so did I. I didn't like him in the rose Bowl and they won that game. I don't root for any jets player to fail but I also do not think im being ridiculous in not bashing them either

He's not a first rounder. The guy is the next Ken Dorsey (maybe a little better). Loaded with offensive college talent and a terrific coaching staff. The kid won't sniff the first 3 rounds.

You know who else were high intellectual QBs? Chad Pennington, Trent Dilfer, and Greg McElroy. Doesn't mean you're getting a great QB.

He has a much better arm talent than all those dudes watch him spin the ball on sideline throws.

There are a lot of reasons the our offense is sputtering. The WR's we played today consisted of Stephen Hill, Greg Salas, and David Nelson. Salas and Nelson both lack the athleticism to get open agains't NFL caliber CB's on a consistent basis, and they are guys that should be used situationally in supplement to NFL caliber WR's. Hill has the athleticism but lacks the technique and route running savvy to be a consistent threat. I saw plays today in which not a single receiver got open successfully. The next problem is that Willie Colon is a penalty machine, and I cannot wait to get him off of our team. Penalties are as frustrating to the players as they are to fans. Now, the biggest issue is clearly the regression of Geno Smith. He is dreadful, and his confidence is shot. He gets tunnel vision on every play, hears footsteps, and panics too quickly to make any kind of read or go through progressions successfully. It has gotten to the point where he can't even successfully make passes to open receivers that he does identify. This combination of factors has forced MM to revert to a highly simplistic offense, and as a result it has become painfully predictable to opposing defenses. We don't have receivers who can run the full route trees that give MM the options to run a diverse offense, and are playing a raw QB who is rapidly regressing in confidence. Don't expect to see anything different in the remaining games, the only way we can win any of them is by replicating what we did against the Saints. The problem is there is enough film now available on how to tear up our crap secondary that offenses are able to whip up game plans to neutralize our pass-rush and that forces us to play from behind. A ferocious running game can't win us games when our defense is not stifling, and playing from behind is our worst enemy.

No matter who goes in at QB. I would have the O-line hitting the sled Tues-Friday. I would run them until they got the message that their job is to protect the QB and create a pocket. Turd Ferguson was awful and Mangold just stood around while the QB was getting killed. Colon gets penalties galore.

from what i have seen so far, simms is more of a sound qb than geno at this point. that doesnt mean hes better, im not sure if he has the same big play potential that geno has shown but matt's footwork, pocket presence, and decision making are all ahead of geno right now. plus the kid throws darts. if he can show he can make some big plays then he might work his way into a career out there while geno is working his way to a place on the bench.

you can excuse the poor footwork if hes making plays and generally doing everything else right, but when his footwork is so bad it is limiting the formations you can actually run and opposing d's have caught on to that, well, its a recipe for disaster. mornhinweg has done a great job so far and you cannot blame the last couple of games on him. its not his fault geno cant take snaps from under center without looking like the second stringer at a high school practice.

im not going to sit here and say simms is the savior but at this point he looks more fundamentally sound at the position and the team really needs a change on offense; i think this is that change. rex cannot look his playersin the face and not do something about the offense. it is what has hurt the team the previous two seasons and he must know that it affects the entire team when the offense looks like they have no fight left. simms will at least play with fire.

A 5th year Sanchez screwing up would have people jumping off of ledges right now.

And if you think Sanchez would have been any better than the other guys with the kind of protection and playmakers the Jets have available I have a bridge to sell you.
