    Actually you can even go back to 2010 when the Jets stumbled from 9-2 to 10-5 during December before beating Buffalo in first week of January.

    3 years of crappy Decembers!

    I disagree that rex ryan should be fired. this notion that he's a glorified dc is nonsense. Ryan has passed most if not all offensive responsibilities to mornhinweg. many hcs around the nfl has that arrangement with their dcs and hcs, rex ryan is no different. that said, I believe the team of idzik, rex ryan and mornhinweg should be given another yr to show what they can do.

    Rex is as good as gone with the JETS. It's safe to say that the next head coach of the JETS will be an offensive minded coach.

    I don't think getting a offensive minded head coach would solve our problems

    Probably not, but we have gone from Parcells, Groh, Edwards, Mangini to Rex.
    I think the next go round whether it is this off season or not, it is the way to go.

    Or we could just get talent. That would help any coach. Look at cincy with Marvin Lewis

    Your argument sucks because Rex has had 3 different OC's in 5 years and his offenses have ranges from average to putrid.

    Rex completely ignoring the offense and doing such a poor job merits him being fired. However I'm apprehensive to give up a top 10 defense every year. But I suppose if it comes with the worst offense it's not worth it.

    I keep thinking about the Bucs teams of the late 90's and early 00's and how they were built. Basically the Bucs had Tony Dungy build an excellent disciplined defense and then they fired him and brought in Jon Gruden FTW. Then the franchise collapsed into ineptitude again.

    Then you look at the Steelers of the early 90's and they brought in Bill Cowher and he built success right away for them via the defense but then the offense deteriorated and it took him years to get them back on top again. But he managed the trick and the Steelers were a top team once they'd figured out the offensive side of the ball.

    I guess the cautionary note is about the guys who were brought into places with a good defensive rep preceding them, built the defense but got themselves fired on merit after that. Not the Dungy's but the Buddy Ryans and Bill Belichik's (Cleveland) and Dom Capers.

    Dungy got fired because the perception was that he'd never get the Bucs over the top. The records he produced were good but he'd just never get them over the top. The other guys above were fired because after some success on the defensive side their teams collapsed. The problem is that the collapse didn't end when they left town.

    I think there's a good argument for keeping Rex until he's finished the defense at least. Taught all these young players how to play the game and function as a unit. Then if you have to make a change make a change.

    Maybe that's because Rex drafts no one but defensive players, and before anyone says he's not the GM, BS, Rex had a ton of influence in the draft, that's obvious.

    The Jets have drafted more players on offense than defense from 2009 to 2013.

    2009 - Sanchez, Greene, Slauson
    2010 - Wilson, Ducasse, McKnight, Connor
    2011 - Wilkerson, Ellis, Powell, Kerley, McElroy, McKnight
    2012 - Coples, Hill, Davis, Bush, Ganaway, Griffin, Allen, White
    2013 - Milliner, Richardson, Smith, Winters, Aboushi, Campbell, Bohanon

    That's 9 defensive players and 19 offensive players in 5 years.

    They just can't find offensive players for their life with their picks and they keep trading up to blow chunks picking on that side of the ball.

    Sanchez = 1st and 2nd
    Greene = 3rd, 4th and 7th
    Hill = 2nd, 5th and 7th

    The Jets are terrible on offense on merit at this point. They can't find talent on that side of the ball and they are blowing a lot of picks looking.

    If you assume that Rex has had an undue effect on who the Jets draft on defense then he's helped them find two star caliber players in Wilkerson and Richardson plus a couple of solid players in Coples and Davis. He's helped them find roleplayers like Wilson and Ellis. The jury is out on the safeties and Milliner but basically the Jets have not flat out missed a pick on the defensive side of the ball since Rex got here.

    Rex is the only head coach in the league who has had bottom 5 Qbs his entire career yet he still manages to, in the end, win more games than he loses.

    Rex must stay.

    Look at the first two rounds (really focus on the 1st round), not garbage pickups drafted in the 6th round. Zero big offensive playmakers drafted in five years, zero.

    No doubt ... No one could expect any success with the offense we have on the field right now ... Our #1 receiver would be lucky to be a #3 on ANY other team in the league ...

    My god, there is NO ONE with any separation on probably 90% of the pass plays ... I am not sticking up for either QB, but damn they have to have someone to throw to who can get a bit of separation and then actually catch the ball when it is there ...

    Rex is not the problem, he has put together the BEST defense in the league, yeah the Fins put up 400+ yds today, probably because they were on the field for 39 minutes. Even when they came up with stop after stop, the offense went 3 and out and the D was back out on the field ...

    If Rex does get canned, and Mike Shannahan does, Shannahan is who I would want.

    Shannahan is a head case and has won nothing without Elway, TD, and Shannon Sharpe.

    This looks to be the 3rd straight year he will not win more games than he loses.
