Wildcard Standings through week 11 in 2009:

    Steelers 6-4
    Broncos 6-4
    Ravens 5-5
    Dolphins 5-5
    Texans 5-5
    Titans 4-6
    Jets 4-6

Guess who made the playoffs? The team that was on a three game losing streak and just got embarrassed in New England with the QB throwing 4 interceptions. The fans that are quitting right now are absolutely pathetic, its all right in front of us still. As bad as things are right now, Sanchez's play was even more dreadful at this point in 2009 and I was a huge Sanchez supporter. This team looks bad right now but this team still has a great opportunity. The script for the 2013 Jets has not been written yet, lets see what happens starting Sunday. Rex Ryan has done this before so he is certainly capable of doing it again. Get the W Sunday and setup a four game season.

We had the #1 defense, #1 running game and an elite offense line

No way can you compare the two teams

the only chance we have is simms

we would be leading the division with sanchez

    we drafted 2 busts

we are better off tanking the rest of the season

    rex should be fired

    idzik should be fired

    woody should sell the team

That's a bit extreme. This is a "have some faith" thread, not a "I guarantee playoffs" one.

Do you think any other 5-6 team would be willing to do that? No. But one of them is going to the POs.

And I thought the CJ69 was being a bit extreme.

I agree with you. The league isn't that strong, we have lots of games that could go either way but are absolutely winnable. The question is does the team start stacking wins or stacking losses.

This Jets team is in the mix but this Jets team has to play much better on both sides of the ball starting this week in order to have a winning record and a shot at the playoffs.

If we do not get some VASTLY improved QB play then no. If the o-line is as bad as everyone is deciding to point out then the assholes KNOW this going in! Either Geno steps up and shows his "stones" and DECIDES to play differently to compensate or the OC does. One or the other....

There's a long way to go, it doesn't look good but we have a chance.

I'm with you on this. So many people overreact ... as if a 2 game losing streak never happens in the NFL.

We need to take care of business on Sunday. If we do that, there's a very good chance the only team we'll be trailing on Monday morning will be the Ravens / Steelers winner. People who are already writing off the season are basically saying we have no shot to beat the Dolphins. I expect to beat them and move to 6-6.

If we lose Sunday and people want to throw dirt on the season, that's fine. But it's too early to do that now.

Several posters in this thread, which is supposed to express and encourage a bit of optimism in spite of the team's recent play. They even go so far as to suggest that we start tanking. Seriously?

Jets are going to win this weekend, and these idiots will disappear for a week or two, but they will always be there, lurking in the shadows, waiting for the next loss or mistake, or failed draft pick. Then they will jump up and proclaim "I was right all along! I predicted it! I told you that guy sucks!" and bump a prickish thread to prove their brilliance.

They have no clue what it takes to run an NFL franchise. They have no plan. They have no better idea. They just tear the team down from within.

    poor champ

only one idiot ( well actually two if you count that imbecile Benigno) thinks that if you don't win the superbowl in a year, it's a losing year

Since Kotite departed the Jets have given their fans a number of excellent winning seasons (1998, 2000, 2005, 2009, 2010) and after the four wins in the remaining five games, probably we can add 2013 to the list.

    Great post.

I fully expect to be 7-7 after fourteen weeks and have a realistic shot at the playoffs with two winnable games looming. Who wouldn't have signed up for that, or something close to it, before the season started?

It's definitely not over. It's tough to get excited about anyone on offensive though, now & for the future.

Having said that, I think they make the playoffs this year.

Pretty sure the post was designed to be facetious. :)

Not sure about some of the responses.

    Within what?

The folks "within" the Jets organization do a perfectly fine job of fucking things up. Did you see the game Danny Woodhead had against the Chiefs?

They don't need any help from us.

There's a reason we haven't won a Super Bowl in 44 years....and it ain't because of shitty fans.

All the little pink pony positive thoughts in the world aren't gonna make Geno Smith play better.

But having a viable backup qb on the roster might help us win games.
