Do you bring back Sanchez next year?

So we should disregard everything we know about Sanchez just to assume he'd be better under MM, simply because you say so?

By that logic if we bring in Jamarcus Russell under MM, he'd be awesome and you can book your trip to MetLife Stadium in February.

i'd say right now there is a slight chance he comes back ala calvin pace. cut and resign for vet minimum. really might be dependant on what other offers he gets and what other f.a. qb's are available. and of course how geno finishes the season.

There are Qbs who will be available other than Mark Sanchez next season. We passed on several good ones for this season guys who would be playing a lot better than a 10 Qbr. I doubt Idzik will bring him back even at a much reduced salary. But to me (and I hate saying it) Mark would be playing better than Geno is esp if he was running a ground and pound. I don't think Mark can be effective in a West Coast offense which requires precision passing something he isn't capable of doing. A guy like Alex Smith or a Tim Hasselbeck could be plugged into Marty's offense and be successful. If Hasselbeck is available next season I'd try to sign him and keep Geno as the backup. But if Mark is going to be on the roster can he learn from 2013. After seeing him in pre-season I doubt it. So to me the only circumstances you bring Mark back is with a ground and pound. If they hadn't gotten off of that after his first two years he would have played much better than the horrific stuff we saw at the end of 2011 and 2012.

In 2011 he account for 32 TDs --- say what you will, spin the stats, find a reason, but 32TDs is 32 TDs. 17 INTs and 9 fumbles was his issue. Hell cut the fumbles in half and 32/21 isn't bad. He had Wayne Hunter getting him killed all season and that Baltimore game definitely messed him up. 2012 was such a mismanaged offense and QB situation no one was going to succeed. So 2012 was a wasted season for everyone. To say Sanchez sucks is unfair - has he struggled at times...yes...has he played really well at times..yes...has he shown the ability to be clutch...yes...has he shown the ability to win the big game...yes.

If you had to bring a guy in to compete with Geno you can do a lot worse than Sanchez.

The thing is you can do a lot better than Mark so why go back into the past. When the Jets ran a very conservative run based offense he was ok. (and that's the highest grade I can give him). When they decided to expand his role and make him a throwing Qb (and a franchise Qb) he failed miserably and his stats are the worst over 4 seasons of any NFL Qb. That is until Geno came along. Even if they get Mark for half price ($4 mil per) there's still a lot of other guys like a Hasselbeck they could sign for the same money. In pre-season 2013 Mark moved the ball but still turned it over and made the same mistakes when under pressure, etc. And threw into coverage instead of getting rid of the ball. They would have to be desperate to bring him back. The thing is right now they are.

What could be so bad if he returned with a reduced contract and purpose. Who do we bring in next year? Cutler? Locker?

How about we cut all garbage QBs and get a real one? Draft one, and sign a proven vet backup like any other team does? How the hell did this team go into this season with Sanchez and Geno? They had Garrard who apparently couldn't keep up with 200 meter jogs in shorts and tee without his body giving out.

they didn't decide to expand his role in 2011, they did it b/c they couldn't run the ball and we fell behind big which he brought us back nearly every week usually only to see the D keep allowing scores.

sure you can do better than him but you can also do a lot worse which is what we are seeing now.

Jet fans are getting what they deserve, unfortunately I am a part of it and I don't deserve this.

They don't separate fans by player investment. The fans didn't hurt Sanchez.

The Jets led us on a bit this season, but big picture this was always a punt season. We're playing with scraps on offense and a rookie QB.

The majority of fans wanted him gone thinking "anyone but Sanchez" would be better. It led to us firing Tannenbaum and bringing in a new GM who wanted his QB which led to mark getting hurt and led to us missing the playoffs for the 3rd straight years(for the first time since 1995-1997).

No season is a "punt season". we have a good enough D and good enough talent and coaching around the QB that we could have been a playoff team(and still can be if the QB improves).

Which free agent to be would you bring to NY that would be better than Sanchez? I just don't see a QB out there that would be you think this guy is capable of stringing some wins together. You would have to go with someone who is over the hill or who washed out miserably some place else.

Sanchez got hurt theres nothing you can do about that. The Jets starting wide receivers yesterday weren't on the team a month ago.

Maybe punt was the wrong word but it was certainly a transition year...as we'll have major salary dumps this offseason as potentially a new coach.

Even if Sanchez were healthy- the combo of shoddy interior line play and wide receivers off the street...the offense would still suck. Brian Winters is going to get someone killed sooner than later.

I am so tired of hearing the no talent excuse to make Geno seem like he is trying.

David Nelson had a nice 65 catch season 2 years ago before hurting his knee. The guy can play NFL receiver.

Holmes was playing and he can play in the NFL.

Cumberland and Winslow were playing - both are capable of catching the rock.

Salas has shown some nice skills.

Hill was solid early and forgotten late.

There are people to throw the ball to but Smith just can't. He threw one pass into the damn ground!

You put an average QB on the field and this team is on full control of the 6 seed.

Hell no no going back. Draft another QB for competition, bring in a decent vet like a Shaun Hill from detroit. First and foremost move heaven and earth to get some WR's. Go get Mike Evans if you have to move up do it.

Sanchez is the worst QB to ever put on cleats but people are worried about him coming back at a reduced salary to just compete for the job. If he is what many believe he is, he will not win the job because he sucks. The great Geno, Simms or mid-round QB will completely outperform him leaving "Suckchez" to 2nd or 3rd string. Short of breaking the bank for Cutler or Bridgewater taking an unexpected slide in the draft, I don't see another option.
