It is serious -- no team that rebuilds makes it - KC had 2 wins last season -- the got a QB and are a top team in the NFL. The Browns have been rebuilding since they came back in the league. The Jags, Raiders, Bucs, Vikings, Dolphins, Bills etc...teams that rebuild never get ahead.

I mean if he goes Sanchez against ARZ on us, okay after 1 half. But most of his turnovers have come in the second half of games in losses. (3 vs NE, 2 vs CIN, 2 vs BUF) I would keep him in after the first half even if the game is within reach or we are leading. Not generating anything is different from playing miserable. If he doesn't generate anything, the coaches know much better why things aren't working. Seeing the team right now, there are plenty of problems that could lead to the offense not generating points, not just Geno holding back a high-powered offense.

IF he plays miserable in the first half, different story. But not generating anything, I disagree.

I hope Marty is not an idiot. Rex blindly held on to nacho and wasted 2 seasons and destroyed the morale of the entire team.

Geno is not learning from his mistakes. And we need ...... Correction.. Rex needs to win and take advantage of this situation we are in now. Because if the second half of this season slides down the toilet because of QB turnovers Rex is gone . Period

Ravens rebuilt, got Flacco, and won the SB. The Steelers rebuilt for a while, got Big Ben, won a SB.

That's the thing, the Chiefs were rebuilding since the Holmes/GReen days. They have talented players on that team through rebuilding and they pair the coaches with it. The new QB isn't the only change, they added a new coaching staff, new schemes, new defense, new everything.

Look at their defense, the strength of the team, all through rebuilding.

Seahawks since the Shaun Alexander day, rebuilding. Look at the talent on the team.

    Look at the 49ers.
Look at the Falcons going 8-8 7-9, 4-12, then turn it around.

There is rebuilding, and those teams had success. 2-4 teams can live the king's life in the NFL where they have a top QB and regardless of talent, those QBs will help them to the playoffs (Although as we have seen recently, this doesn't guarantee the ultimate goal of a SB) The rest of the NFL, has to find other ways. Those other ways are rebuilding.

Geno should get a game or two to redeem himself.

I want to give Geno at least a home game.

I think he should get a chance to redeem himself.

Geno can have 16 games to redeem himself next year.

We need the next game to keep our playoff hopes alive.

He is a 2nd round draft pick that is in a 5 game slump -- he needs a road game to redeem himself where he sucks?

He's the starter so he should get the benefit of the doubt.
    That's besides the point.

    Interesting thanks for posting.

Amazing he got any completions, horrible pass protection and receivers.

No it is exactly the point. Sanchez was the 5th overall pick. A guy you have up picks and players to get. He had to be the man because he was drafted to be that guy.

Smith was the 39th pick. He isn't a big cap hit, we have up nothing to get him, people saw he wasn't an NFL QB. The jets have th luxury of sitting him and not taking any heat.

If people want to say oh no weapons, oh no time, oh he is a rookie, oh you will kill his confidence.... Then why even have a backup qb? Just take that roster spot for another CB and say Geno is the guy all season no matter how horrible he plays because that is fair for the whole team.

    ???

This is like the epitome of the grass is always greener thing. Simms has never started a game in the NFL and yet you believe he'll lead the Jets to a couple of back to back wins if given the chance.

He hit receivers in stride, was able to throw the screen , stepped up in the pocket nicely, and the biggest thing is he threw balls where guys were supposed to be and before the made their breaks. Just has a good understanding of the offense and how it works. Guy deserves a shot if smith keeps imploding and is a liability throwing the ball. He comes out next week and goes. 3&out with two ugly passes he is in trouble

Thanks for making the argument for staying with Smith. This season was never about making the playoffs as a #6 seed. It was about building for the future.

By the way, what does giving Simms a start tell anything about him? Take any QB and pick one random game and that QB can be great, terrible, or average. You need multiple seasons to evaluate a QB . Giving Simms a start is useless.

Who is saying one start? Simms comes in and plays well he keeps starting. Maybe you find out Simms is the future. Smith has 10 games under his belt and he has regressed so much in the last 5 weeks it's scary. He is unable to throw an out, he has trouble throwing in between the numbers because he can't understand where defensive help is, he doesn't run, he turns the ball over, he is completing under 52% of his passes, and now he is even struggling on screen passes. What is he bringing to the table that says as a rookie 2nd round pick he deserves to start? because people hope he is the real deal? Tom Brady was a 6th round pick and came in played well and became the franchise. You never know what you have on the bench. Simms is an NFL backup QB...he played solid in pre-season and looks more confident throwing in a game than Smith does. When a team is in the 6th playoff spot in week 11 you can't say we are rebuilding- You owe it to the other 52 guys on the roster and the coaching staff to put your best option on the field and right now that is not Geno.

In a handful of attempts, he threw two dropped interceptions. Please stop this "Simms played well" nonsense.
