Here's a random thought: Will the Sons keep playing at such a high level if our secondary starts pulling their weight? The Sons have been playing with extreme intensity in part because they CAN, and in part because it's been the only way for our Defense to get off the field. If our secondary continues to show signs of life, it will take some of the heat off our front 7. This could go one of two ways: 1- Our front 7 will start taking a well deserved 'let up' in intensity (including the rookie/sophomore slump/wall that 3 out of 4 of our Sons will be facing very soon) -or- 2- Having a secondary that can cover receivers longer than 1.78 seconds will lead to an even greater showing from the Sons (coverage sacks, etc). I can't see the front 7 letting up on purpose, but it may be a human reaction to having help behind them that they haven't had yet this year. Either way, the Jets defense will be very fun to watch.
Yes, professional athletes that have tens of millions of dollars at stake for their next contracts will "take it easy" because they have a better safety that is 35 years old. REX WHY DIDN'T YOU THINK OF THIS.

I don't really see the point of getting Reed, he's been on a downward spiral for a few years, 35, an I don't like the idea of cutting into Antonio allens playing time, he's played big this season, I guess if he can mentor some of the younger guys, however he'll most likely only be a Jet for 7 games
Don't know where you are getting the assumption that he is on this downward spiral. His numbers last year were right on par with his career averages.

Sometimes it isn't always about the INTs for a safety. Reed in due time can very well be the one making audibles in the secondary and playcalls and take some pressure off of Harris and D. Davis and Landry from doing it. Reed will also have the luxury in a 3-3-5 to play the ball or be sent as a blitzer(Though I think Josh Bush serves this purpose better, he got screwed of a sack by a lousy call).
He had 4 picks last year, since when is that not productive? Hes been dealing with injuries that kept him out of games early this season and hasn't played a lot of snaps, hes still Ed Reed and EJ is probably shitting in his pants right now.
True, I just hate the idea of Allens progress, being set back, obviously Reed isn't the player he ounce was, hopefully it benefits Allen, Tim will tell.
Ed Reed wasn't brought here to be the starter, AA still owns that distinction. If Ed does end up starting, it would be because he is the better player. Either way, AA will see significant playing time as the jets will use him as a hybrid safety backer, the role Allen played at SC. The guy that this hurts from a playing time perspective is JJ #37, and if you've seen him in recent weeks that's fine by me. Chill, this is a win win move for all involved!
