Talk about putting this thread out of its misery.

Moving it to the NFL thread will destroy it LOL

Where are you guys getting these numbers from? Falco below pretty much has it.

Here's the breakdown for the remaining 7 weeks:

    $412,000 salary
$437,500 (game day roster bonus: $62,500 per game x 7 games)
    $849,500 Total

    $849,500 div. by 7 games = $121,357 per game.

fwiw, $121,357 per game would translate to $1.9 million over 16 games.

Don't know if I'd put in a waiver claim, but if healthy, I'd sign him if he clears waivers.

I think he clears because nobody wants the salary.

    Ravens have moved on...

Jets and Pats might be top 2 landing spots for him. He loves Rex and he and BB have had a mutual admiration for a long time.

Not washed up - just doesn't have the desire anymore. He should've retired.

When I commented, the link I read at the time said it would cost a team 400k to sign him. Obviously that was incorrect.

Either way i'd probably bring him in. Jets have 1 safety in Landry who has played well and Allen who has high upside but overall is still a little overmatched. Jarrett is decent in coverage but has a minimal role. It wouldn't hurt to take a shot on Reed.

Well I think it's time to move this back to the jets forum...

According to TheJetsBlog, Ryan told the media that he and John Idzik had a discussion about Ed Reed

It's down to who wants Reed and who Reed wants.

Rex was quoted as saying he wanted Ed Reed but it was just talk. But really here is a guy even if his coverage skills aren't that good anymore who knows how to be in the right place at the right time and this team needs a guy like this. A vet presence who can pick off passes when the D line puts on pressure. Turnover ratio on the Jets is not good and Reed in a better environment than Houston could thrive here with this team. Love to sign him.

We all knew this would happen. I'm just hoping we sign him to a good deal. We need a ball hawk in the backfield with the offenses in today's NFL.

I think it's time to move this to the Jets section, Rex and Idzik clearly are talking about it - look at the news-feed on this website
