http://nbcsports.com/content/jets’-mike-goodson-indicted-weapons-charge New jersey DA announced Goodson will be indicted for the Taurus .45 cal with hollow points found in his car earlier this year. Discuss.
Bad news for him. Obviously of no relevance to the Jets this year. Going forward, who knows, but I would hope that Idzik has plans to bolster the run game next year in any event.
Yeah should be interesting. His "buddy" in the truck with him has recanted his statement about the gun being his. Being that the guy in the truck with mike is already a 2 time felon this probably is not to surprising to anyone. On a good note this is probably help full for the Jets as far as making a cut and guaranteed money.
I actually wanted real bad for him to succeed. He has the speed and elusiveness we need badly. Too bad for him. Of course he has not been convicted, just charged.
All goes back to bad decisions doesn't it. He was a passenger and still will wind up getting burned by the stupidity of his pardner. They didn't even pile on the drug charges yet. Idzik probably regrets the signing. I know Goodson looked good considering the slowfoots we had at the position, but he's not gonna do us any good if he's doing a stretch at Rahway. I hope Idzik put in a character clause or we're gonna be on the hook for his contract. Going forward, can we stay away from the questionable character guys? Since the Circus moved on, maybe we can too.
They may have indicted him to squeeze him to testify agianst the driver. Sounds like he recanted and the need Goodson to turn on him?
I predict that he may or may not go to jail for this. And may or may not get kicked off the team. ...being injured they may or may not wait a while and let things play out.
My guess is, if they indicted him, the serial number on the gun was traced to California. Buh Bye. Thats 3 lost signings for character issues since Idzik got here.
Goodson will still have a pretty strong defense on the weapons charges. His lawyer is just going to say that the driver was telling the police the truth originally, and now he's lying. If he has a good criminal defense lawyer, he will be able to just devastate the driver on cross examination and it's really unlikely that Goodson will get convicted if he fights it all the way, as he must. I doubt he will be back with the Jets next year, though, between this and the ACL tear.
