Who's Geno supposed to throw too....

You know with all the injuries and suspensions to the squad, is there anybody who the team can realistically trust to be a catching threat this weekend?? Sorry. I am not as up to date on the squad as some of you.

Last I checked we still had Kerley, Hill, and Nelson. You have to play the hand you are dealt.

In answer to your question, the first thing Geno needs to do
is stop throwing to players who aren't Jets.

If this is the hand, I am not blaming the player for losing.

Nelson and Kerley should get the majority of the targets.

I have a gut feeling that Sudfeld, is going to have a major role this week.

Cumberland's better. But I'd like to see Sudfeld. He just not better make a rookie mistake.

He's made some nice plays so far against the Saints.

He wasn't asked to do as much as usual, but we put him in some tough situations (3rd and long in FG range, 3rd and 10 to ice the game x2) and he didn't make a terrible mistakes. He also tacked on a rushing TD.

6 passes in the second half. The Jets had no answer today for the Saints blitzes. Pretty much every passing down there was an uncovered blitzer. We beat that blitzer on some quick throws to Salas (audible on 3rd down), to Sudfield, Nelson and Bohanon.

But even though we won we have to learn how to pick up the blitz. If we are going to compete in the 2nd half of the season we need better protection. The Saints pass rush may be very good but we have had terrible protection all year.

Phenomenal game by Ivory. His big runs were huge.

I do love that we can win using Smith as a game manager just making a few big plays with his legs and arm.

no horrible mistakes, at least one questionable throw (triple covered, jeez) some very well made throws and an nice run for a TD.

average day where he played the role of game manager, and did it fairly well. passing defense outdid him, but he did what he could.

Hard to ask him to do more that he has with the cast around him. The OL wasnt very great in pass pro today, our top 4 receiving options are out and he's throwing to 3 guys that werent on the team 4 weeks ago.

Nelson is the only reliable WR we have right now. Stephen Hill cant get open to save his life, and we are left starting our 6th string WR and 3rd string TE.

He didnt make any horrible decisions so thats a plus.

It's hard for him to make big type plays with the guys around him, but the key to today is that he didn't turn the ball over.. A few throws scared the shit out of me, but he played mistake free and our run game was boss...

Did people see these commentators talk about how Drew Brees had no Colston, Sproles, etc...to help him out. That Saints attack was beaten up, but the Jets have no offense literally!

As far as I am concerned this was Geno's best game all season.

He did not turn the ball over and we got the win.

All the rest (flashy plays, stats, etc.) is nonsense.

Tampa Bay IMO was his best game. The pressure he was under during that game from the TB front four was tremendous. He took so many big hits that game but kept his poise. Although I would agree he is a much more complete and better player now than when he played TB. He has better pocket presence, moves better in the pocket and is making better decisions. Atlanta, NE, Buffalo were all good games. I thought he played well against Pitt and the Bengals. Atlanta was a very good game leading scoring drives on 6 of 9 drives and compensating for an awful day by our defense. His poise and two big runs against NE were great. Today a lot like NE he was not asked to do much but he came through on the two TD drives.

But today IMO was his hardest game as he had no time to throw at all. Pretty much every single pass play there was an untouched rusher in his face. Today was the worst day of pass protection that one could imagine. So its hard to really judge Smith on today. But he made a lot of small intangible plays. Like the audible on the blitz to Salas. The nice 5-6 yard scramble against a blitz on third down to put us into FG range on our 2nd FG. His throwaways rather than risking a TO. The 3 quick throws near the end of the 1st half to beat blitzes and gain 1st downs. The game was won by Ivory and the running game. But Smith did everything he was asked to do and I did not see any plays he could have done better on. The only questionable throw was the one into triple coverage. He did make 2 inaccurate throws early one to Powell and one to Bohannon. The only other questionable play was on 2nd down on the 1st FG where he could have possibly run an extra 5 yards but I like that he tried to keep the play alive and think pass 1st to try to get a big play. Smith played well but also took a lot of hard hits out there today. The Saints Defense is pretty vicious.
