Just because the game hasn't slowed down for Geno yet doesn't mean it won't slow down over the next year or two. I can't wait for Geno to prove this guy wrong. And, if he doesn't, oh well. He's just a 2nd round pick; so was Clemens.
That's because Manning played for the worst team in the NFL and if he had to make a second read he was on his back.
I just looked at some of his articles and most are fantasy football related. A lot of his scouting articles have been pretty far off. My favorites: Technically right, but for all the wrong reasons. Didn't mention any character issues, which were really the only thing keeping him down. He was a good receiver. On pace for 90+ receptions and nearly 1000 yards. He's made some good predictions, but it seems like a lot of bad ones too. For every right prediction, I found a terrible one. I'm not taking this guy's word as truth.
To be fair Kolb's career has been derailed by injuries he actually looked pretty good last year before he went down (remember the cards were 4-0 with him and winless without). Wright was fatter and had a bad combine. that will skew a prediction system that accounts for measurables. Anyway, yea take everything with a grain of salt but at least he has balls to make predictions that go against the mainstream and he will actually give you a heads up on players that really are sleepers, not guys everyone's grandma already knows about. 100 x better than all these other so called analysts. his problem is that he leans on what the computer model says too much and if the computer doesn't like a guy, as in Geno's case, that's it. I do think his articles can be insightful but he is wrong to the point of pissing me off sometimes. he definitely is biased here so hopefully he's wrong.
I have to wonder if this guy has an agenda, I have my problems with Geno but this article is absurd. He looked at one game out of 8 and came up with this. If anything Geno holds on to the ball way too long so where do you come up with he wants to get the ball out quick because he's scared?
It's the way of the internet world now. Go ALL IN one extreme or the other. People pay attention to you either way. So it's a win. If he's right, there will be some people that remember him being right and follow him closely. If he's wrong most everyone will forget anyway so what does it matter? There's no way anyone with a brain could have an extreme opinion of Geno Smith either way at this point in his career. Way too early. The Jury is still out, and especially for a guy that's so up and so down. If Geno does indeed turn out to suck horribly, this guy won't be "right" or anything. He will just be lucky that the extreme he took THIS time, panned out... he's a smart blogger, not a smart football analyst.
There are reasons to believe Geno isnt going to be good, but over targeting David Nelson is laughable.
RC Fischer also once thought Ricky Stanzi was the best thing since sliced bread? Which McDonalds is Stanzi working at now?
This is not accurate. The Colts offensive line that year was pretty steady. Peyton Manning took only 22 sacks in over 600 drop backs. Every member on that line went on to start multiple seasons in the NFL except for Tony Mandarich who retired at the end of the season at 33. Marshall Faulk rushed for 1,319 yards that year. One of the major reasons the Colts were bad again was Peyton Manning throwing 28 Int's on the year. The defense was lousy also.
