You seem to have forgotten his holdouts and my money first additude. Besides how do we know we never talked to him about a new deal? Because Medouche reported it in the Daily News rag?

  2. We'll never know the answer to that.I was on record stating that the pick was a mistake if it was made as a reactionary pick to the prior trade.

That said..I think we're focusing too much on Revis starting spot. CB has become more about the overall unit than so the individual top 1-2 guys.Similar to DL.

In other words..it's an area you can stockpile a lot of talent & see immediate dividends whether the given draft pick starts or not. Rex has been known to mix/match his DBS for specific match-ups as well as use 5-6 corners in any given game.

That suggests 2 things regarding this topic. For one..a high salary demanding guy like Revis becomes a real problem cap wise b/c you need at least 3 starting quality press man corners to play Rex's scheme. Secondly a guy like Milliner becomes very enticing both BPA wise as well as schematically due to his natural skills & the need for so many good corners.

Revis was gone -- he was too much $$ and too much of a headache. 3 holdouts in 4 years -- it was ridiculous. They have a some very solid pieces up front to build around and next season will have $$$$ to spend.

I don't disagree that you have to be concerned these days at CB beyond your first two. Look at Cincy, they seem to have plenty of depth at corner despite losing Hall, for a rather recent reminder.

And I have not said I think it clear the Jets picked Milliner purely to replace Revis. saying as I did that the Revis trade "led directly" to picking Miliner was a mistake on my part - I really do not know how much that was a factor in the minds of those involved in the pick. But despite the high ratings for him, imo teams rarely go purely based on BPA.

Let me clarify - the Revis trade made it more critical that Milliner be a good pick, and a year one starter. That's partly because the CS has no faith in starting Kyle Wilson. And it may have been a significant factor in picking Milliner.

The bottom line is Woody saved some money by not keeping Revis, when there will be plenty of cap space next year. And the secondary has become the weakest unit on the team. would the secondary be better with Revis? I don't see how that can be disputed.

To me it's way too early to call the guy a bust. It's a tough position to learn and then you see a veteran like Cro turned around and made to look bad against a hot team with good Wrs. The Jets Dbs are allowing opponents to make great plays instead of breaking them up. Dee will probably suffer through more trials and tribulations this season but eventually things will get easier for him. He has the talent level. Even Kyle Wilson has shown (except for yesterday) some improvement in coverage and he doesn't have close to the talent Dee has. We don't have Revis but we do have Richardson. Whose learned his position a lot faster than Dee has.

As much as I did not like the pick and Milliner's fit for this scheme, he was not a reach. He was the top rated CB by most scouts and was projected to go higher than 9.

Hindsight is 20/20. Lets not press the panic button just yet, there is plenty of time for him to turn this around.

I understand the frustration with the guy but I remember clearly that it was considered a steal that Milliner was still there for us for our first pick. I remember my wife saying he had a sort of mad look on his face (that kid rarely smiles I think) because he was going to play for the jets. I was happy at the time and his bad play is a surprise but I certainly need a larger sample size before I condemn the rookie. He certainly looked the part in college and has pretty much everything you are looking for in a quality starter. He is by no means a reach, he was a consistent top 10 selection in a majority of the nfl analysts mock boards and I don't recall anyone listing him outside the top 12.

It was a draft day steal and the less shocking of our first 2 picks. I think his injuries really hurt him but with our lack of depth and with our team trying to purge/regroup it just makes sense to give him a baptism by fire. We will see if he has the short term memory needed at that position. I am certainly expecting much better days for the kid.

Steal or not, this guy is trash and can't cover his own shadow. What in the world has he shown anyone that he has much better days ahead of him? He literally looks lost on every single play. People that are slower then him are torching him. We can all blame the mock boards or whatever but reality is, Jets got screwed by this pick. He is the reincarnation of Vernon Goulston. Heck of an athlete but no football smarts, no football iq, and very poor technique. Can anyone honestly say they've seen a #1 dract pick CB look as bad as he has? Kyle Wilson looks like Deion Sanders compared to him. This guy has no business on a football field the rest of the year. Back the damn drawing board again....

Yup. The Jets brass said they got 2 of the top 4 players (in Milliner and Sheldon) on their board, so Dee certainly wasn't a reach to them.

With that said, you could live with a rookie struggling if he's improving from week to week, but thus far it looks like he's going backwards.

Not only that his demeanor on the sideline isn't very settling. He looks lost. Something I never even said about Kyle freakin Wilson.

We have this guy for 4 more years (possibly). His play has not been where I envisioned but Darrin Walls got torched as well last game and shutdown corners just can't be signed off the street. This is our current situation, it is not ideal but I'm sure every message board for another team rebuilding like us is complaining about someone. I like our problems compared to the other teams we were grouped with at the start of the season (raiders and jags).

Also, looking at the top 10 again no one in that group is anywhere close to playing up there potential...we are not the only team with a rookie struggling. Nothing left to do but hope the Milliner takes these rookie lessons to heart and turns into the player we thought we had when we drafted him.

Rex is not one to bench people very quickly and he has benched this guy twice already. I don't think it's a reach to talk about him being a bust. Maybe he can change my mind but he hasn't shown anything yet when you have walkons outplaying him.

Dee Milliner has been so bad that it's causing Landry's putrid play to go unnoticed. On a lot of those plays, he was suppose to provide help, but he was no where to be found.

Maybe Landry's problem is he's trying to help Milliner. If Milner isn't around the WR how is Landry going to be around the play?

Just have to have confidence to play in this league. NFL starters live on the edge. It's okay to make mistakes, as long as you learn from them.

I want to see Milliner play with confidence more than anything else. I want to see him living on the edge trying to make a play whatever the cost. He just can't play afraid.

Playing afraid is a bad trend that ends careers.

I'm sure my wife has a tampon laying around for you to use.

Quit acting like a little girl. They lost 49 to freakin 9. Of course people are going to be frustrated... whiny posts like this are so incredibly annoying, let people vent and quit your bitching.

That's a weird question. What does Milliner being around the play have to with the safety providing help? That's the whole purpose of providing help if the CB gets beat the safety is suppose to be there. Rex said in the presser that a lot of those plays the CBs were getting help even though it did not look like it.
