I didnt get the game at work and was watching it on the puter. Anybody able to post a vid of that play I wanted to see if the call was justified with my own eyes
And on top of that, everyone will claim we were lucky to win off the penalty at the end. Really, we should have had a 10 point lead in the final minutes.
It was a deep throw into the EZ. Hill extend both arms into McCourty's back, but McCourty was going in that direction and jumped and flailed. Hill extended him arms which I guess is an automatic OPI form the refs, but I feel like the actual shove he gave McCourty was minimal.
It was a tough call, but the officials will call it almost every time the WR's arms are fully extended. The CB sold it well, the official may not have been in the best position, but it happened With all that said, I think it was a bad call, it didn't look like Hill pushed him
Hill extended his hands and definitely pushed off slightly. It wasn't blatant by any means but he did push off.
It was the correct call. It was dead on. The problem is that its done every single week by every single team including the Pats but its rarely if ever called. Thats what sucked about the call. Did he push off..100 percent. So does every team.
It was a bad call. Whoever that db was, sold the push. That was a "soccer style" dive from minimal contact.
I didn't like the call. But the media will focus on the FG penalty and totally overlook that one. Hill definitely had his hand on his back but I didn't see a push off.
Can a receiver push a db when the ball is in the air? No...the call was correct...but I guaranteed it happened 20 times today...20 times last week..etc...and maybe gets called 1 time a week.
I didn't actually see the big deal, Hill did push off and needed to cause it would have been an INT if he didn't. But if this were the NHL they would have called a dual penalty - Hill for interference and McCourty for embelishment, because it wasn't enough of a push to knock the guy head over heels.
It's the same deal with holding, the Patriots' kick-blocking scheme, lots of other things. That's most of why NFL reffing is so inconsistent - it's hard as hell. The ref will only call it if he actually spots it. Hill had his arms fully extended into the defender's back. Even if McCourty didn't embellish, it wasn't subtle. I have no problem with the call either.
Exactly Zombie...I had no problem with the call at all...but what pisses me off is on about 4 instant replays you saw Gronk pushing off...you saw Edelman do it twice. Its a bullshit call only because its done so often its absurd. I mean if you watched the Jets rushing after their success in the 3rd quarter, the PATS were holding Richardson on every single play. The league is so inconsistent with their calls its horrible. But Hill pushed off and the DB ran with it with some great acting.
