Next year we might get a better QB and some WR's . Geno is more than getting a fair shot. We drafted him in the 2nd round. I feel that if he does not improve and upsets at least 1 great team, then we draft another. They aren't many drafts that have "Luck" or any lucky 7th rounders(brady) picked that turn into stars. We have gone defense every year first round because we had no pass rush. I don't understand Milner cause he is/was a injury risk. If I was GM, I would not gamble on a injury prone player. Especially a CB (millner) In the first round.
There are no "Lucks" on the horizon but there are a plethora of really really really good QBs coming out in 2014. Geno is good. How good? Do you forgo possibly really really really good? It's all a gamble and NOBODY knows. _
Try Googling "Signing Bonus" and spreading out the cap hit. Nobody said we needed to sign an Albert Haynesworth but we have NEVER been that active in FA. Our biggest haul was Favre.
2008 Brett Favre, Calvin Pace, Alan Faneca, Damien Woody 2009 Bart Scott, Jim Leonhard, Marques Douglas 2010 LaDainian Tomlinson, Brodney Pool One of the reasons the Jets are in trouble right now is the over-reliance on veteran free agents in the last window.
We need better scouting. It seems like a lot of other teams always seem to find those diamonds in the rough who went undrafted or who were taken in the later rounds (Victor Cruz, Arian Forster, ect)
None of those guys is/was a difference maker. Favre: 1 year, a disaster. Pace: Solid but not a star. Over paid. Faneca: Best years behind us, gave us 1 good year, then they let him walk. Brilliant.... Woody: Good pickup, solidified line. Scott: Way overpaid, rarely made a big play. OK for 2 years but last 2 years he stunk. Leonhard: Good player but couldn't stay healthy. Douglas: Did very little. Tomlinson: 5 years too late, replaced Jones, even exchange more-or-less. Pool: Nothing spectacular.
A QB who doesn't turn the ball over like his life depended on it. Then again we had one of the best at not turning it over in Pennington and we still sucked so...
Sucky owners. Sonny Werblin is the only true visionary this team ever had at the top. When Woody decided to piggyback on the Giants with the stadium issue in 2005 after failing to get $$ from NY state, I took it as a surrender.
