Jets placed WR Clyde Gates on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, ending his season.

Gates separated his left shoulder in Sunday's loss. Injuries in the Jets' receiver corps had forced the third-year speedster into heavy snaps (140), but predictably, he caught only 12 passes in six games. He committed three drops in the process. Gates is not an effective NFL player, but he's signed through 2014 in New York.

Jets placed RB Mike Goodson on injured reserve with a torn left ACL, ending his season.

It's the second time in three seasons Goodson will finish the year on injured reserve. Talented but fragile, Goodson totaled 80 yards on nine touches after returning from his four-game suspension. Goodson is signed through 2015, but has no remaining guaranteed money. He will have to prove he's healthy next summer to keep his roster spot. Talent has never been the issue for the former fourth-round pick.

I know a lot of people hate Gates. I am sad to see him go down. He looked like he was finally getting healthy the last 2 games after suffering all year through a knee injury. He had a real opportunity to get significant snaps this year and possibly make a jump in development. Bad break for Gates and bad break for us.

Is Campbell really 4th on the depth chart now? Hill, Kerley, Nelson and Campbell? And now Cribs at 5th and our KR. Pretty rough blow losing both KRs in one game.

I have to imagine the Bring Back Braylon segment of this board must be screaming in delight looking at our WR depth chart. But sadly for them I doubt there is any circumstance where we will see Braylon back.

Clyde Gates is a good thing. Never want to see him in a Jets uniform again; atrocious, brittle, weak receiver. Goodsen, displayed glimpses of excellence and in a flash he is again relegated to the sideline

Clyde Gates is signed through 2014? WHAT THE FUCK. I can't take one more season of him, along with Geno targeting him 100 times.

His salary isn't guaranteed. Can be cut with little cap hit next spring

I was skeptical when I read that of how accurate it might be. Does anyone know if he has guaranteed money in 2014? I can't imagine he does, he's pretty scrubby.

He has to be good as gone next year then, the WR corps needs a serious overhaul other than Hill / Kerley.

Get healthy Gates, but please get the fuck off the team.

    Sorry about Goodson

Gates....Cribbs is a big upgrade at KR and possibly PR too and can fill (or Campbell/Salas can) any perceived loss at WR.

2014 will be Gatesless at no hit to the cap either

I was stunned at how many balls Gates didn't drop Sunday, and poof! He's gone. Too bad.

Cribbs as KR won't mean much. Kick returns are a thing of the past.

I'm genuinely worried about where all the injuries are headed at this point. It's early for the Jets to have been bitten this hard. Thankfully none of the injuries so far, with the possible exception of Holmes, have been critical.

Seems every team in the league has been hit hard..I guess some of the juicing has stopped.

Barnes was a pretty big loss. Cro playing injured all year has been a pretty bad thing. All the RB injuries has not been good. Holmes Hill and Gates has been pretty rough. Losing Winslow for 4 games surely did not help. It is no where near 2005's injury list but there are so many it adds up. Especially at position we are thin at like WR.

  15. I never thought Gates was as bad as others portrayed him. He had potential to be a decent 4th or 5th WR.

That said..not gonna lose any sleep when he's let go this offseason & we finally upgrade the skills corps.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Goodson stick around. Powell/Ivory/Goodson is a pretty solid group moving forward. Jets just need to surround them w/ better skill on the outside

Unfortunate to lose anyone, but Gates was by far my least favorite Jet. Not his fault, he has no talent. He should not be on an NFL roster, but that's just me.

Goddamn. Of course it happens the day that Gates has his best game as a Jet... Not that he was great or anything, but there are certainly a lot worse out there despite how people dislike Gates.
