On the surface it seems fucked up, BUT, many players have their own charities and personal agendas. Who's to stop them from promoting their own organizations on their uniforms?

    great job bm...

exposing the nfl once again as money hungry douchebags. its blatant that the nfl doesnt really give a shit about breast cancer, the nfl cares about appealing to women and what better way to do that then breast cancer awareness MONTH.

there is no altruism in the nfl, just a bunch of douchebags trying as hard as they can to make more and more money at whatever cost...

is it a charity? does it help people? then whats the issue if its their charity or mine?

the real issue here is the nfl coming out trying to be the good guys all the while their ulterior motive is to get more women to watch football. its so fucking disingenuous it makes me sick.

In any charity, only about ~10% (for a generous charity) of the money it takes in goes to actual research/help for whatever it says its doing.

The other 90% goes towards expenses of running the charity- which pretty much correlates to a high CEO/President salary.

Just because a charity is "non-profit" doesn't mean the CEO can't up his salary every year.

EDIT: Want to be clear, I still support BM here.

Cheers, I forgot to post the link.

The sheer amount of people mental health affects is ridiculous, young, old and at any time.
Some people here reading this now might have mental health problems, usually if you are lucky enough to realise you have them, its too late

Good job, Brandon Marshall. And thank you, NFL, for bringing more publicity to Mental Health Awareness Week than BM's shoes ever could have. Players should continue to use the NFL's fine system to promote issue awareness and charity.

and the nfl could REALLY do alot of good by promoting it and promoting people going for help.

us men are usually so afraid of admitting we dont have control and need help managing our own minds that most usually avoid getting the help they need until its too late.

big strong football players that have access to 100 million people, most of them men can really do a ton to get rid of that stigma that many of us have.

and you are so right vanderbiltjet it did turn into great publicity because they acted like assholes about it.

wow this is ridiculous. its not even like he just randomly decided to do it, it was mental health awareness week. the nfl really is a shit organization its a shame that i love the game of football so much because honestly the nfl as a business makes me ashamed to be a fan.

fully support marshall and as someone with a long history of mental illness in my family think what he did was admirable. if more people like him would throw these issues into the spotlight more people might get help. untreated mental illness is a huge problem in our society and if it werent for the stigmas surrounding these issues more people would get treatment.

Is there a mental health awareness week or month or something in the NFL? The NFL should work with Marshall and others to set this up.

Indeed, Indeed, Indeed, not only that, but they have a slew of pink NFL items for sale for all the teams and they are making a killing on them. They don't want competition unless they control it.

Good for Brandon M. As usual under the thin façade of unity, personnel safety and community involvement the NFL leadership demonstrates that underneath it all they are mostly a bunch of money hungry whores.

This time, it brought more awareness to a good cause that they could have imagined.

I don't get the NFL. There are many players who have mental health issues that have come about from concussions suffered on the football field.

While the Breast Cancer charity is a worthwhile charity, there are many others equally worthwhile and I make no distinction in general life. However, in the NFL, surely mental health should have at least an equal profile with breast cancer, if not given a higher profile. Surely this would make some douchebag players reconsider and stop leading with their helmet in tackles......
