He looked decent in preseason and that's all I have to go. If he plays and shows otherwise the ill change my views.

I hope Matt Simms is great and while he was ok in preseason it was against mostly guys that aren't in this league anymore. To go from that to starting in a real game is a HUUUGGGEEEEE difference.

Bit of a risk to go with someone as raw as Simms as our primary back-up, innit?

If healthy, Garrard is pretty much the perfect back-up. I hope his knee holds up.

I love the signing, vet mentoring Geno and he's a great team mate.

So true, there are Sanchez fans on this board who believe he could
get up off of the operating table from his shoulder surgery, and still
be our best option to beat the Steelers this Sunday.

bite what? it's a fact, if Mark were able to play we could keep winning if Geno went down, w/o him what do we have? Simms? Quinn? now Garrard? do folks actually watch football?

    *taking the bait*

A healthy Garrard is better than Sanchez.

we get it, everyone is better than Mark. Simms, Garrrad, Browning Nagle, Chuck Clements. I am just so thankful we had the most talented team in NFL history carrying him to 2 title games but unfortunately he just held us back from becoming the next dynasty.

lmao. Plus, I was kind of getting tired of hearing the name simms like he is some hidden talent because he threw a couple of passes to his 3rd string com-padres.

I was a Sanchez backer until halfway through last season. There are many posts from me on this forum defending the guy. I still believe he can be a decent QB for some team. Unfortunately, he's just not a good quarterback right now. Lots of reasons for that, many of them not Mark's fault...but it's true. When healthy, Garrard's a more accurate passer than Sanchez, and he does a better job of securing the ball. That's pretty much indisputable.

Think about what you just said for a second.

    Then think again.

Matt Simms is the backup right now because Sanchez got hurt and Quinn was just signed when the season began.

Now the Jets have re-signed David Garrard. I doubt Matt Simms ever had an opportunity to hit the field barring a catastrophic injury to Geno. The Jets were already signing other backup plans as soon as Sanchez went down and they've just brought back another backup QB now that Sanchez is done for the year.

It is no different at all. If you can throw the ball well against bums you can still throw the ball against stars. Your arm doesn't wither and die based on the competition.

great we are back to the original plan for the Jets

Smith starting, Garrard the vet backup and assistant QB coach on the field, Simms the number 3 and Sanchez, McElroy and probably now Quinn in the rear view mirror
