I hate the idea. As much as I'd like to see the Jets here, I wouldn't like to have a 'home' game at Wembley. I think the NFL are misguided on this one (other UK posters, shoot me down). The London games don't have supporters as such, just a collection of NFL fans there for the novelty factor. I appreciate the NFL think they are breaking into an emerging market but the majority of fans I've seen are the same ones that began watching in the mid-Eighties. I don't think there is the appetite to sustain this, or a London team. The only UK game I've attended was the Chargers-Saints game which, although a great game of football, was as soulless as fuck.
I predict the first division rivalry game in London will be Jets v. Pats with the Jets as the home team.
yes it was sold out. The NFL will never work in London - most NFL fans are those that got into it back in its glory years in the late 80s and are all committed to the teams they already follow, much as I wish I could I couldnt stop following the Jets to support another franchise and it would be the same for the vast majority of NFL fans over here. There are too many other way more ingrained and popular sports for it to take off in a huge way here, especially in London where there are more pro soccer teams than you could imagine (Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Fulham, Millwall, West Ham, Crystal Palace, QPR and others) and I just cannot see them building enough of a young fan base against that (especially as American Football would never be played in schools given the equipment costs)
I guess I feel the same as many UK based Jets fans, in that I'd love the Jets to come over, but as the away team. In any case, given how new the stadium is I can't see the Jets or Giants coming over as the home team any time soon. Regards a franchise over here, I've said it before, but who would support a London franchise? I was born in London (actually near Wembley), but have supported the Jets since 1982, and won't be stopping. If I ever see a Jets team win the big one, I'll have 31+ years of defeats, screw ups and disappointments to shout out of my system. A win for the London Porters (name them after a beer), just would be the same. I can't be alone in that, and it can't just apply to Jets fans, either.
Confirmed 3 games here next year. From a selfish perspective it's great but when I think about it I'd be pissed if I was a fan of one of the teams losing a home game. Home teams will be falcons, raiders and jaguars. Am I right in saying the jets could play the falcons?

Ha. Yes - another step towards Goodell's master plan of 17 regular season games, one for each team in a neutral venue. Much as I'd like to see the Jets over here (not for a home game) it's not likely to be us.
The NFL's long term plan is clear to me. They obviously want to put a team in London but then expand to draw a European Audience. I think they want to establish an entire division in Europe of 4 teams. To match that they want to install four more teams in the states starting with Los Angeles. The league wont allow a team to move to LA because the owners want the profit, and as an expansin team the revenue from an LA team would split among every owner rather than one owner getting it.
