Hill is cleared to play. This adds a new dimension to offense. Deep balls to Hill and allow Jets RB's to do something. Not that we will be able to execute but it is still an option for us. The spread is +9.5 and I think this is way optimistic. Falcons are 1-3 after all and Jets still have Top 5 defense. If Geno doesn't fuck up, we have a shot but still not gonna get my hopes high.
The books just don't expect ICE to lose back to back in the Dome. He rarely loses there anyways, but back to back? The Falcons offense is predicated on throwing the ball vertically downfield; hopefully we can get some pressure on that banged up o-line of theirs and throw them off of their game because we know that they will not be able to run the football.
Smith has completed 78 of 136 passes for 1,090 yards with four touchdowns and eight interceptions. His overall passer rating is 68.6. That will have to improve if we are to have a chance to win. I see this as being a fight between their defense and our ability to protect Geno. If we can protect him, and the defense can do it's usual job, then will be at least a TD and a maybe a FG away. Holmes is out for us, but Hill is back. Stephen Jackson is out for them but Jacquizz Rodgers is great third down back who nimble and shifty through the holes.
Can we win a "big" game? honestly, the last satisfying win was against the Cowboys in 2011.... I know we beat the Colts last year but that was against a rookie QB. Can the Jets surprise me for once? It seems like every game we go into as an underdog, we lose. This is a 1-3 team we are facing...why not beat em?
That win vs the Cowboys was a joke of a win. We played absolutely horrible. If it wasn't for Tony being Tony we would have lost.
Yep Romo did us a solid. But soxxx is right. We didn't have a quality win for a while and this game could easily be labeled as one. Boy we need this win so bad.
And if we beat Atlanta, we will hear what we hear every other time we beat "good" team. "Oh, they're 1-4, they suck" Somehow I hope we pull this one out. I have a few friends who are Falcons fans and would love nothing more than to shove it in their face :metal:
I agree 100% but it is a win that will give us a lot of excitement. I really havent been pumped about a Jets win in while. Beating the Bills and Phins to me is like "meh". When we beat the Chargers who were 4-1 that felt great but the Chargers collapsed after that so it didnt look as good a couple weeks after. It seems like every other team in this league pulls off at least one decent upset each year, so why cant we?
The one thing I want to see this year. And I am fairly certain it could happen this game is to watch Geno march the team down to the endzone WHILE STAYING IN THE FUCKING POCKET. Not taking six steps back out and into the arms of the coming defensive ends.
Right now everyone has the falcons killing us but if we win everyone will be like "well no duh they're a 1 and 4 shit team".
I'd have to say the Steelers game in '10 was our last true big win. But yeah you're right it seems like we never pull upsets. When we're favored to lose we lose. When the Falcons played the Patriots the Pats constantly got pressure on Matt Ryan. With our improved pass rush I think we can duplicate what NE did plus some. We just need to limit the mistakes on offense and play a sound efficient game and control the time of possession.
Will be there. Can't wait. Defensive risk is our #2 and #3 CB. If Roddy is healthy, will be a long day for our corners.
Hill playing really helps. Anything to give less snaps to Gates. Hopefully Ivory and Goodson can contribute as well, wouldn't mind seeing Powell at WR a little. Really hoping to see a lot of ground game in this one, even though it's not Marty's style. I can't stand Gates at kick returner. He is fucking awful, no speed, no hands, no agility. I don't understand why he gets touches at all.
Apparently he re-aggrevated the ankle sprain vs NE. We'll double one of the WRs, the interesting matchup will be Davis and our Safeties vs T Gonzalez. I feel our DL will contain their run, and get after the QB a little as Atlanta OL hasn't been great to this point and missing LT Baker. Whether or not they can execute the chunk plays, and turnovers, will determine our fate imo.
