I'm against the Jets picking through other teams trash looking for a QB. We've had a trashy QB for the last 4 years, I'd rather roll with a young kid that has the potential to improve and isn't a proven failure.

This franchise(texans) is a joke for not even considering P.Manning. Peyton was practically letting it out to the media that the texans would have been a perfect fit. Kubiak is a great coach? Why has this guy gotten so many passes? He screwed that fan base by sticking with scaub and now manning is gonna take denver way further than scaub is gonna take the texans.

I don't recall that, Peyton considered the Texans?

I remember Peyton's decision towards the end was either the Broncos or Cardinals.

Looks like Matt Flynn will also be available next season.

Hopefully Geno works out, if not next draft get yet another QB

I don't want any part of Flynn. He's working on his 3rd team in three years although obviously the 1st one doesn't count.

You're right about just drafting another QB in the first few rounds if there are still big questions about Geno by the end of the season. He's cheap and the guy they'd draft would be cheap and a real competition between two cheap young QB's could not hurt the Jets.

I think Geno has a real shot at taking the job this year though. He's not the perfect prospect but he's got enough going for him that if he can fix a few things he'll be a good QB. Give Rex's defense a good QB and they'll go places.

I am sure a certain guy named Jay Cutler would be available after this season. If you are not going to pick a rookie or groom Geno, that's the best option, no?

You only go get a guy like Cutler if he's coming into the building as a reclamation project fully on board with your plan. In that scenario he is maybe a better version of Rich Gannon going to the Raiders because he has a very strong arm.

If he's coming in as Jay Cutler misunderstood star then he's going to be a waste of time and likely a failure for you because JCMUS hasn't done squat worth talking about in his career other than watch his teams lose more games than they should with him at QB.

I'd rather have the unknown in Freeman at a minimum salary than dump tons of $s into Cutler who has proven he is not a winning QB.

I disagree. I'd say Cutler has played pretty damn well despite his Offensive Line being horrendous for all of his years in Chicago. He finally has a decent one now, so we'll see, but I'd take Cutler as our QB in a heart beat. He reminds me a lot of Favre with his gunslinging mentality.

He never plays well in big games, he takes a lot of sacks holding onto the ball waiting for a big play. He's a Drew Bledsoe type.

Exactly. Favre was a winner who made big plays when he had to regardless of who he was surrounded with. He was a leader and the team rallied around him.

Guys like Bledsoe and Cutler? The never made people better.

A lot of that had to do with the fact that he's had nobody to throw to until Marshall, and even then, he was the only guy they had last year.

I still find it amazing they got to the NFCCG with a receiver corps of Johnny Knox, Earl Bennett and Devin Hester (who is garbage as a wideout).

Jeffrey looks like he could be intriguing, which now gives Cutler two potential guys to throw to plus Bennett and Forte.

I'm not saying Cutler is a top-end QB persay, I'm merely saying he's performed pretty well despite a terrible offensive line and hardly any weapons to work with sans Forte for most of his career. This is the best situation he's had so far, so we'll see.

In fairness to Bledsoe, he did carry the Pats to a Super Bowl in the mid-90s, forget what year exactly.

he had Marshall in Denver, right? Den was picked as a playoff team every year and failed every year.

You find it amazing they beat a 7-9 team at home in the NFC divisional playoff in 2010?

Bledsoe carried nothing, Curtis martin carried Bledsoe in that 1996 run. Drew cost them a SB w/ a terrible game.

no thanks. He's not a bad player by any stretch, but he's limited.

Denver's defenses were horrendous late in Shannahan's tenure. He had some strange obsession with under-sized defensive lineman. Some of that was on Cutler, but he was certainly a good enough QB for them to make the playoffs with.

Mile High Stadium. The offensive linemen weren't big either.

no he wasn't or he would have led them there in a weak division. Sure the D played a role but he stunk too.

    2008 they were 8-5 w/ 3 games to play.

    lost 30-10 to Carolina.

lost 30-23 to Buffalo, 30 pts is a lot to give up especially to Buf but had TWO chances to tie the game late. First drive through INT at Buf GL, 2nd possession had 3rd and 4th and 5 at Buf 15 and failed.

last game lost 52-21, D stunk but led O to 6 pts in competitive portion of game. This was for division title.
